Garuda Linux freezes every 5 seconds for half a second

Hello,

I have been running Garuda for a few months. I’m facing the issue that there is periodic freezing on my system. When I boot up the system, there is no problem, but after running the system for about 5 to 8 hours I can see this problem. Every 5 seconds or so, the system freezes for about half a second. I think the freeze gets longer and longer as the system stays on until it gets to like half a second, but shorter pauses can be seen earlier. This can be observed when I am watching a video on any browser, or even watching the system monitor app, the graph freezes at the same regular interval. But sound faces no freezes.

The output of garuda-inxi is as follows -

I have updated again and restarted. I will now have to wait for 8 hours for the problem to get annoying. I will report here after that.

Okay, now the problem is back. Result of garuda-inxi:

Quit complaining.

So now we know that a reboot didn’t solve your problem. But it was a necessary first step. Kinda like tying your shoelaces before walking.

I would first suspect a temperature problem, given it takes time.

52 degrees should not be a problem, the CPU is allowed to go up to 95 I think. Also, it stays at that same temperature even in right after being started up, but the problem arises only after a few hours of usage. Besides, I see no CPU usage spike and the sound does not stop.

Have a read when you have a bit of spare time.

I was waiting for some submission to go before I updated the bios. But after trying different things, disabling Freon gnome extension seems to have fixed the problem. I am guessing the system would freeze when it probed the sensors. I will update again if I see the problem again.
