I physically separate all drive installations as well. I use 4 or 6 bay hotswap racks in my different computers. Small size SSD drives are so cheap now that this is the safest and most efficient way to boot multiple different drive installations. It also makes for easy backups as one installation can be quickly and easily imaged to another drive. Shut down and swap SSD’s and your running a different OS installation without any fear of one installation borking another.

I have used this method for over 20 years. Initially I modded my computer wiring and cases to add micro switches to isolate my 7000 & 10,000 rpm drives. Fortunately these days, cheap SSD’s and hot swap racks (such as the IcyDock) mean I no longer have to jury rig my own hardware solutions anymore.

This solution is far cheaper than what most Windows gamers spend on their graphics card, and this way you can run any OS you want without the headaches of multi- booting with Windows.

I replaced my HDDs with SSDs and the felt-difference made it almost like getting a new computer. One TB SSDs are currently $50 or less.

From the Garuda homepage:

" Dual booting Garuda Linux may lead to unexpected issues! Be aware that the other OS may change the EFI boot priorities on UEFI or overwrite the bootloader on BIOS systems."

Amazing, the first titled distro that didn’t tire me much…

Plus all dep’s so far fixed, my config files tampered with…

Some need deeper dive, cause have e.g. timezone as Berlin instead of inserting user selected one etc.

LOL, I’m lazy and don’t need to change it every time I test the ISO.

Hi Everyone, Happy Belated New Year 2024 :tada:

So, I have a really good news to tell everyone about, I got my dream internship!

I acknowledge that I have been really inactive on forums in the last year, and many of new faces might not recognise me, and might even wonder : Who is this @Naman in Admin page.

So, here I am.

2023 was real struggle for me, I had academic pressure along with working day and night for improving my coding skills, to get a good internship. Also, I didn’t want to work at MS or similar company ( I skipped MS intern drive at my college ), but little did I know that skipping it would prove to be a nightmare, because this year was really disheartening for Engineering students, due to sharp downfall in jobs and internships. It is estimated that job offers in India in Computer Engineering have been reduced by as much as 30% in a single year! :slightly_frowning_face:

So, there were very less offerings in my college as well, and the Good companies did not come for On Campus hiring interns in my college as well. ( Although there were still some good companies offering full time jobs, because I study in a really good college )

Anyways, I had to work a lot harder, improve my programming skills, and keep applying for internship for last 7 months !

Pressure was really high because we have dedicated intern semester, that is I must find an internship for at least 4 months, lest I should work under professor, and will not get any industrial experience!

But in the December, when I was appearing for my college exams ( I have completed 5th semester at the college ), I got a positive response from a company, I was offered an internship!

And that too, in the type of the company that I dreamt of – A company that is based on Open Source Software! It is

It is the company that is behind Tauri, one of the most famous Framework for developing GUI applications using Rust!

And it is Open Source as well. See

And another plus : I have to work mostly for support for Linux only!

It is a really good opportunity for me to learn as well as use my Linux knowledge. I am really glad to get the opportunity!

And Thanks everyone from Garuda Team for supporting me in the tough time! Thanks a lot guys

So great to hear that @Naman. Persistence pays off, you’re getting a good start in the tech field with what sounds like a really progressive company.

Kudos, and good luck with your new internship. You really dodged a bullet there, as M$ would be the last company I’d enjoy having to walk in the door each morning.

Congrats and cheers buddy. :beers:

That is fixed by me somewhere , It will show you now the default timezone of your PC ,
Oh well, I remember , not in waybar itself actually in G-Hyprland
BTW , you just need to remove the timezone line in the clock section from waybar config :slightly_smiling_face:

I my ownself have removed that in my config :slightly_smiling_face:

You should keep an eye on your unstable ‘co-maintainer’

Missed you man :smiling_face_with_tear:!!!
Welcome back ^^ !!!

A grand salute man!!!

A post was split to a new topic: Garuda is the best

Very random but I feel people should learn to type and by that I mean the proper way of touch typing where you place your index fingers on the two ridges and basically don’t look at the keyboard at all.

I look at people around me and see that all most none of them have ever put any thought to learn how to type and I look at them monkey mashing those poor keycaps to kingdom come. :skull: If not for the sake of keyboard dying on you because of excessive force, at least for the sake of your own finger use less force and stop smashing those buttons. You don’t need to wrestle with keyboard for it to type…

For real I have seen interns with me hit keyboard like the GIF below with enough force to poke a hole through its body and table below and they sit beside me. :scream:

Well, I’ve gotten so used to my soft laptop keyboard that using a normal keyboard feels like something new. Especially when they are old and their keys have become hard. Bruh, pressing that enter key on one of the 3-4 year old keyboards is a pain (since I use my pinky finger for that  )
Thankfully my mom taught me the correct way of typing long ago (she had installed some “typing tutor” software for me. It had all the instructions as to where to place the fingers in each row, etc)

I too have friends who do the same, but can’t blame them as most of them don’t have a computer. I did show one of them the correct way! But he’s outta practice as the only place he gets to use a computer is our college. And with all the broken-dusty-old keyboards they have, anyone will run away!

Agreed. Let 'em learn like I did on old manual Royal or Standard typewriters, with the keys covered and only a key chart on the wall. A semester long course you could only pass by typing a minimum of 60 words per minute with zero errors. On a non-electric machine. That was when we pounded the keys & return carriage.

I had typing in a block after lunch in high school. I was always too stoned from toking up at lunch break to retain anything in typing class. Of course there were no computer programs to teach you typing back in the dark days before Cel phones and the internet. My typing skills are still pretty bad as it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Nwg dock …

Well I’m not telling you what software you are using. I see the dock which is the nwg dock, that’s what I say. You better watch your behaviour. Being a maintainer does not mean you say whatever you want.
