I read a few places that while rudimentary / basic HDR support is there for HDR capable monitors, the full 10-bit / 1 billion color support is not. I believe, as was also stated, one needs to also supply a monitor color profile, however, only standard RGB colorspace is supported. So no more colors than is the norm, yet.
I was able to install plasma 6 by adding extra-testing, however I am having an issue with colors on one of my monitors. My setup includes 3 monitors, all support HDR and freesync VRR. Two of them work as expected so far, although I havenāt gotten a chance to test out the HDR besides enabling it in display settings and not seeing any errors, however on of the monitors the colors are severely washed out and everything has a grayish tint to it when HDR is enabled. The SDR brightness and color intensity sliders appear to have some effect, but it is barely perceptible even if I adjust them by the entire range of the slider at once.
Did you read my post right before yours?
Or @dr460nf1r3 's several posts prior:
I suspect the reason for / question of your issue may have been answered already, by the both of us.
3 posts were split to a new topic: Ho installato Garuda KDE Lite
I havenāt gotten cube to work yet, anyone else having the problem?
Yep, thought maybe dragonized theme somehow was causing a problem so I switched to breeze theme but still not working. Assigned it a display edge but still to no avail.
I have tried it in dr460nized and breeze as well and Iāve got nothing so far.
Yes, it seems kind of inconsistent. On my main rig, it doesnāt work, but on my Toshiba laptop 2-core intel and nvdia mx something from 2015 it works.
There was also a video I saw where the Neon OS beta was being used and it was also inconsistent though it did seem to work for the guy after he added 2 additional work spaces to his desktop to have a total 4 work spaces. But like I said, for me laptop works, desktop doesnāt. Havenāt tried to figure out why yet.
I was using breeze and now with plasma 6 tired to switch back to dragonized
ran the migration and and so far it looks okay.
The only issue I have is that for example dolphin is so transparent that itās barely usable.
transparency setting in kde system settings is off.
I donāt know where this setting is coming from.
oh and when I run
lookandfeeltool --resetLayout --apply Dr460nized
again
dolphin is not transparent anymore until the next shutdown and restart of dolphin
This doesnāt apply the Kvantum theme sadly, switch it via Kvantum Manager manually to Dr460nized. This is an issue because Kvantum isnāt compiled against KDE 6 yet, which means no blur behind windows.
I had the same issue with transparency in Dolphin but I just switched the global theme to Breeze Dark. I am in dolphin almost all the time so I couldnāt use it with the transparency.
This is probably (even if highly unlikely) causing other issues, but for now I canāt see many other than maybe cube and dock. The other issues I am having are application specific to Brave, VLC, and Steam+gamescope after replacing gamescope-plus I installed when testing HDR months ago under ChimeraOS with the official gamescope.
Kvantum has been signed-off on & updated just a bit ago.
In fact, Plasma is now 6.0.1!
Ran Garuda update and voila, I am on Plasma 6.01.
Later Iāll come crying if thereās something weird, but first impression, āKudos to Garudaās Devsā
Hi guys, should we keep extra-testing repo?
Same here, but unfortunately and as expected im running into some small issues,
Right now workspace switcher (Mouse scroll wheel on desktop) does not work and my panel layouts on multi monitor are not being saved correctly after a reboot or log out. Minor stuff which iām sure will be fixed in time, but overall im happy and it was a pretty smooth upgrade and garuda even told me it needed to apply its theme again which was nice
EDIT:
I figured out the workspace switcher, it got disabled by default now
A few widgets havenāt been ported to plasma 6, frankly this is not like kde 3 to 4.
So no complaints.
When I said panel layouts I should have said panel locations instead. My top bar panel gets stacked under each other on one monitor instead of being at the top of each monitor.
its a known BUG, i have the same problem as on KDE 5 I had 3 panels next to each other on TOP of the screen.

Interesting, I did not have this issue on KDE 5 - just today when i upgraded to 6.
I edited my last post and attached a screenshot. Like i said, itās not big deal, i just wanted to report some of my findings. I can live with minor annoyances. Overall im very happy with the upgrade and the work Garuda put in to make it as smooth as possible.
