Attempting reloading deprecated 32 bit lib environments in 64 bit OS

Hello.

sudo apt-get curl libfltk1.3-dev portaudio19-dev libopus-dev libmp3lame-dev libvorbis-dev libogg-dev libflac-dev libfdk-aac-dev libdbus-1-dev libsamplerate0-dev libssl-dev
((RETURNS ARGUMENT)) ---> sudo: apt-get: command not found - So this is a continued attempt to install missing 32 bit libs that are critical for proper functionality of various music programs such as specifically "Vivox" microphone/voice chat, video and live streaming "BUTT" - streaming tool/app butt (broadcast using this tool) download | SourceForge.net that are all necessary for www.secondlife.com & firestorm viewer fs_voice [Phoenix Firestorm Project - Wiki] that is used to access SL and other virtual world "games" that i and others use to play live music, DJ and in my case original instrumental guitar music... Thank you again, Namaste @TNE

pacman/Rosetta - ArchWiki thank you for the additional very helpful link @BluishHumility i am very new to Arch environment came from years of fails with complications of Debian/Mint/Ubuntu specifically so i have alot more to learn!

This is just a list of packages to install, probably dependencies for your game. The equivalent here would be Pacman, although I don’t know if those package names will be the same. You can try, and troubleshoot packages that fail based on errors you get. First fully update:

garuda-update

Then try to install your packages with Pacman:

sudo pacman -S curl libfltk1.3-dev portaudio19-dev libopus-dev libmp3lame-dev libvorbis-dev libogg-dev libflac-dev libfdk-aac-dev libdbus-1-dev libsamplerate0-dev libssl-dev

In the forum, please format your terminal outputs with code formatting by adding three tildes (~) before and after:

I am pretty sure all of those packages have a different name in arch. What you can do is take the name you have there and type it into the search on this site Arch Linux - Package Search maybe without the numbers and -dev. like just search portaudio for example. it will give you the package name of lib32-portaudio for that one so that one you can install using:

sudo pacman -S lib32-portaudio

Also, since you are looking for 32bit stuff, look for the one that is in the multilib repo as that is going to be where your 32bit stuff is.

i keep trying the same steps in process you recommended

You know what they say about trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results, right? :wink:

Your original list of packages, wherever you got it from, is a list of Debian packages. They would be packages you would use on Debian or Ubuntu or Pop OS or one of the many other Debian-based distros out there. Garuda does not use apt for package management though, so the packages sometimes will be named differently or missing altogether.

My suggestion--to keep the list, but substitute "pacman" for "apt-get" was just a stab in the dark in case you got lucky and most or all of the packages wound up having the same name. They didn't, so no reason to keep after it.

I'm not sure if you skimmed over the advice @djwyman posted above, but it was excellent advice so double back and read it--I think that will for sure be a solution for getting the packages you need.

Both posts. :point_up_2:

That's because these packages have different names in Arch. They are going to be called lib32- and whatever the name is. Check the names against the link I posted above. The packages you are trying to install are the Debian names, not the arch names.

i made some progress by installing flatpack... and then installed Ardour & that installed some of the missing 32bitLibs... that got my https://mictests.com/ functioning but still not Download butt (broadcast using this tool) from SourceForge.net or the "Vivox" program which is critical for voice/microphone support in many platforms... By studying this Empowering player communications with Vivox | Unite Now 2020 - YouTube video it showed to me that it does not natively support Linux... so without resorting to a virtualbox or container env. this is where i am at in continued attempts to get voice support and live streaming support, specifically for SL "SecondLife" https://my.secondlife.com/xocel/picks/33f36edf-3b0a-0083-9390-243db9a020b8 that i use more professionally for live benefit performances and as a general musician/guitarist who has been known to collaborate with more than a few well-known internationally famous Professionals... I must assure you all that i do read and re-read the provided suggestions and links for application... so thank you all for your continued brainstorming to resolve my complex issues as a relatively new user learning Garuda/Arch OS who migrated from Ubuntu/Debian... Garuda has now been mentioned in SL for you all CONGRATULATIONS!!! So they provided more specific information of what was missing to install specifically for Arch/Manjaro/Garuda, etc... here is my new terminal output

so i read all you presented @SGS and continue to study when i can... there is terrible storms and flooding going on here in Kansas and too many other issues upon my fathers death i am having to deal with just FYI compassion.... i appreciate everything you all are continuing to do and have so far been able to perform one new song for my friends using vivox "voice/mic" in SL SecondLife and that is my most important goal is to get back to my only means of income and continue to use my talents to help others in much more desparate situations... Namaste... and here is the "AUR" output that i am still confused about... i hope this is helping others here on the forum despite my bad grammar and annoyances being a "newB"

At the end of the review, if you type q it should then ask you to install, which you should answer y (yes).

Please edit your previous posts to so that your terminal output has ~~~ before and after.

terminal output example

This will make it so much easier for anyone attempting to help you.

If you have exited without installing, if you do paru -S butt it may avoid the 133 possible matches, and your output may be shorter.

< Thank You So Much @haakoth !!!! I think that was the missing info that was eluding me, im about to test... I have been adding the "3 tildas " ~~~ before and after the Terminal outputs... so i dont know why they are not showing up in all the posts i triple checked them all... I would be happy to show hopefully the final terminal/Aur output but dont want to continue to annoy those concerned... i hope to be a useful present here in continuation of future... so for now here is a pastebin ... It’s because you need to add a newline before and after. This won’t work:

~~~ text ~~~
It needs to be this:
~~~
text
~~~
That looks like it was a successful install and garuda-update. Hopefully that is now working for you and you are closer to your goal.
As to Vivox, as you noted, they do not support Linux currently. I don't have any experience in that area, add music, my suggestions would be near incompetent likely. There is almost always a Linux alternative out there though, and hope you can find it.
