According to unconfirmed information from widely known sources in narrow circles Garuda project is slowly closing down… it became clear since last year by the absence of new releases of the distribution updated very rarely - history does not know such a long period of stagnation unless the case is not moving to the end of support and development. Before the New Year all major Linux distributions had updated their versions and only Garuda, whose new version we expected as a holiday, is still in a liturgical sleep. We are extremely sorry for what happened and will remember this project as one of the most successful and worthy of the Linux world…
But you do realize that the system is a rolling release, right?
Surely, other Arch-based distributions are constantly releasing new versions to generate attention in the various forums and channels. Some distributions even make a living from it, because they market the work of others for themselves.
We don’t need advertising and are not dependent on rankings on dubious websites, which in turn live off advertising.
Apart from that, there will be a version and new ISOs to download in the not too distant future.
By the way, if you want to know how active the Garuda team is, you can follow them on GitLab.
The team does this for fun and in their spare time. Free of charge.
Good things take time, and the fun should not be destroyed by “pressure” from outside.
I won’t be as nice as SGS the below is a flockin load of horse pucky.

You must mark the irony so that it is clear that you yourself are not subject to this error.
No joke I almost said this out loud.
I was like, the forum is ever active these days, with people joining in - making spins like Cosmic, Mokka; Contributing to the testing ISOs/new website/artwork threads…
Nice scareware but don’t do it again

Some would say that what the OP writes sounds passive-aggressive.
And as explained here in the forum several times, some users’ demand for more, more often, different, is way over the top, if not outrageous.
One example, no offense, just a sample.
But we don’t force anyone to use our distribution. If you’re bored here, you can switch. Never stop a traveler .
Laptop with Garuda partitions and LTE router are my constant travel companions
I would say the line I quoted sounds like right-wing crap.
Yes never stop a traveler, but maybe run a few down?
Even if it seems like there isn’t much activity at times, I’d also recommend checking the Chaotic-AUR GitHub as repo-side changes will most likely be dealt with here.
But yes, someone clearly believed “the sauces” too much and didn’t particularly invest much time in checking the state themselves
lol…my guy, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
“History” apparently has never heard of Slackware then.
By the way, when was the last time Arch Linux had a release?
You referring to the one that comes with Ocean front property in Arizona? I sold those off YEARS ago.
@Arius: Who is we? Do you mean some Reddit posters, youtube-influencers and dubious tech websites?
I recommend that you seriously read up on how opensource software and linux distributions work and what backgrounds and claims people like us represent. And you might want to learn the difference between static distributions / point releases and rolling releases.
Nobody who is seriously involved in the opensource community cares about meaningless phrases like “Linux market share” or “Year of the Linux Desktop”.
Do yourself a favor, don’t believe everything that is spread on the internet - and if you come across such “information”, then ignore it and boycott those who spread such nonsense…it’s called clickbait.
A little tip: People who invent, build and maintain a Linux distribution - they do it according to their own ideas, otherwise we wouldn’t have so many different distributions where everyone can choose the one that suits them best.
And btw…they all have a real life with a job, family and other obligations - and they all do it voluntarily in their free time, without any payment.
even in my opinion there’s no dire need to release another version(unnecessarily) when nothing breaks after updating a fresh install from an “older” version,
definitely not in a rolling release distro where everyday there’s atleast 1 update XD.
In my opinion, this is complete nonsense.
I laugh so hard that I started to choke on my chewing gum.
How dead, what dead, what sources?
Since when Garuda needs a new release each month, quarter, half year or year? All updates needed to successfully having the latest stuff is thru the repos, CORE, Chaotic, EXTRA etc.
If a Distro needs new update or There is a plan to update it, the Garuda devs will push it once its ready. This is a project of passion (I think) that’s why I like it, no constraints, it runs, its Arch based. People on the forum are funny & helpfull.
What else we need?
I have a superb experience lol. Garuda made my dream of Gaming Linux come true, cause I was lazy to go thru the manual process myself and waiting for SteamOS started to be painful.
You’re right! And for me garuda has become my favorite distro, so I thank everyone who has been paying attention!
Agree 1,000,000,000,000%. The last time I installed from the April ISO after landing on the desktop and doing the initial updates there were over 4,800 megs in updates and not one issue after the reboot for those updates. To me that is extremely impressive. Currently my three goto’s are Garuda, RebornOS, and Arch (using a graphical installer). After finding Arch based distros I can’t even give the rest the time of day.
Thank you to whomever reported @Arius’s one post and to whomever hid it.
lmao what is this shit? XD
It’s not April yet.
EDIT: You scared the shit out of me.
Tell me about it. I don’t know why but Arch is so weirdly attractive
