Volunteers needed: This is how you can help

Garuda Linux is a project run by volunteers, including everyone from the Garuda Linux core team. From the artwork, the translations all the way to core system components and custom software.

Although Garuda Linux has a donations program, the most important thing Garuda Linux needs is time and skills. One of the biggest hurdles is getting your skill and time to the right place!

The list below will be updated as needed, so be sure to check in or set your notifications to “Watching”!

Calamares Installer Slides Artwork
Want your artwork to be one of the first things welcoming new users to Garuda Linux? The Garuda Linux installer “Calamares” could use some updated slides. You can find the current slides here as some inspiration. Any number of slides is okay, get creative! It should preserve the 3:2 aspect ratio. Resolution should be at least 900x600. The installer slides should also fit with the colors of the rest of the installer interface.
Installation guide voice acting
The Garuda Linux homepage has a video linked at the installation page. The video could use someone with a more clear voice (my voice and accent is pretty bad) (preferably a native speaker, but if you talk good it doesn’t matter :3) to read the script. Do not worry about editing mistakes out (it’s fine to re-try the same line multiple times) from the script or timing the script, all that will be handled by me. Do not worry about microphone/audio quality too much, that will mostly be handled by an audio cleaning service if needed. The script does not have to be read exactly, differences are okay as long as the meaning is preserved and understandable. Script here.
Translations
Garuda Linux is basically always in need of translators. You can view our public Transifex page (more projects pending). If you are interested in becoming a translator, please get in touch with your existing Transifex account’s E-Mail address, we will have you added and ready to go in no time! If your language is not yet listed in a project you are interested in, we will add it when asked. When translating, make sure the translation is correct for the given context. Usually the “key” is something along the lines of “menu.file.themeDesigner”, which should be sufficient context in most cases.

And finally:
Whatever interests you. Unhappy with something? Do you think something could be better? Ask where to start, and we’ll point you in the correct direction! We <3 contributions!
The core team is also not closed to new team members if you have an established reputation in the community. If you are interested, feel free to bring it up!

Found something for you?
Get in touch, and we’ll mark it off the list for you (to avoid duplicate/wasted work).
