[SOLVED-ish] unable to satisfy dependency 'qemu-base=8.1.0.2' required by qemu-desktop

If this problem occurs, go into garuda-assistant(can be called with garuda-assistant from a terminal window) and select the System Components "tab" and look on the left for Virtualization. under that heading is Virt-manager, unselect it to uninstall it(make sure no vm's are running right now, i don't know what would happen) and click apply. after entering your password and going through the uninstall procedure you should be able to fully update via update or garuda-update.

after installing the update you can go back into that garuda-assistant window and recheck/reinstall virt-manager. after a reboot the "normal" virt-manager will work again.

Thanks. It works.

I simply uninstalled virt-manager-meta, updated, reinstall virt-manager-meta, ran update again and all was good.

FYI there is virt-manager and virt-manager-meta. First attempted to remove virt-manager and was told it would break virt-manager-meta.

Can confirm, that worked for me also.

thx i was having this problem going to try it now.

so at first i had trouble with it then realized that i had my terminal open and that was stopping my form uninstalling. so close any terminals you have running before trying.

This worked for me.

Can confirm uninstalling Virt-Manager worked for me as well. Thanks!

You should be updating from the terminal not from a GUI.

You buy 'em books & buy 'em books, but all they ever do is rip the covers & eat the pages.

Hello Guys ,

I am currently having the same problem.
Does reinstalling virt-manager delete my VM configuration? I really don't want to configure that VM again because it is a gaming vm with gpu passthrough which took me 2 full days to configure correctly :grimacing:

The best thing about Linux has always been the people! Thanks, it worked.

the procedure i outlined above does not delete the configuration(atleast it didn't delete mine). if you were to reboot between the upgrade and the reinstall or do it in any order that i didn't mention above, i would not know what would happen.

Thank you!

Updated everything and my VM is all fine:muscle:

you are welcome, enjoy your stay with us on garuda.

Then you have another problem all together, cause I launched pacseek in Konsole sered the package, selected it, pressed enter, uninstalled when asked, back to pacseek, Ctrl + Q to exit pacseek, did the updates, then sudo pacman -S viret-manager-meta, reinstalled, ran updates again and all good.

The uninstall/reinstall virt-manager didn't work for me. The reinstall failed with the following error messages:

UPDATE: I uninstalled the things that wanted qemu-common=8.0.4-2, and all now appears to be well. I'll check whether there's a newer version of them that works and plays well with 8.1.0-2.

Removed virt-manager and that helped
