Hello guys, me again with a messed up update, just today, i’m trying to report faster. :grimacing:

i did a reboot after todays update and then i got 3 crashreports from plasmashell

Starting debugger gdb --nw --nx --batch --command=/tmp/drkonqi.UjSEQr --command=/tmp/drkonqi.uRfyYJ --core=/tmp/drkonqi-core.ZJcTEp/core /usr/bin/plasmashell

This GDB supports auto-downloading debuginfo from the following URLs:
  <https://debuginfod.archlinux.org>
Enable debuginfod for this session? (y or [n]) [answered N; input not from terminal]
Debuginfod has been disabled.
To make this setting permanent, add 'set debuginfod enabled off' to .gdbinit.

---------------------
A fatal error internal to GDB has been detected, further
debugging is not possible. GDB will now terminate.

This is a bug, please report it. For instructions, see:

Debugging ended with exit code '6' and exit status 'CrashExit'

i then went here to the forum and found the posts about the broken keyrings, and ran the garuda-update remote keyring/fix and so, but that didnt help either… i then tried to load a snapshot, but whatever snapshot i try, it fails to start switch root and enters emergency mode.
trying other kernels didnt help either, dmsg has no errormessages, journalctl -r has some coredumps.

What exactly crash?
I see only BT errors. Did you serch about the web?
Did you enable the service, if you need them?
Did you try X11 from login screen?

Report it.

IDK what GDB is and can’t help about.

well, i dont really know, plasmashell … it doesnt load the taskbar, startbutton and sidebar (my guess for the 3 errormessages), i think i was lucky that a firefox task is still open and i can use it, i can navigate with alt-tab between fish and firefox, but can’t really access anything else, or even logout to try to run X11

for bluetooth, i dont have any devices connected and i thought it be disabled as i dont use it

(ah and when i try to send the report, it is ever trying and then aborts for unkown reason
Die Absturzdaten können aus unbekannten Gründen nicht gesammelt werden. Es kann nochmals versucht, das Fenster geschlossen oder die ausführlichen Angaben gesichtet werden. )

Please try live ISO, everything works?
Create a new user and check for same problems.

Use TTY and

systemctl reboot

For TTY it must be Ctrl + ALt + F3 until Ctrl + ALt + F6.

Ctrl + ALt + F1 is your workspace.

Ctrl + ALt + F2 show the login screen (no function possible).

to add there, i just found out, GDB is the Gnu-DeBugger, and i found a topic very similar, but am not sure how it helps me, as i understand, he just deleted a config?!

and here is another similar that got solved by reinstalling the whole OS, but i already tried the garuda-update remote fullfix ?!

Check my edit on last post, please.

You can also try,
use live ISO in Welcome / RANI app
use chroot and update your system again.

well, i did, systemctl doesnt show any error (everything loaded active) and the reboot from there doesnt change anything and ctrl+alt+F2 just shows a black screen…
i will try the live iso, but need to prepare it

It was for changing to X11 in login screen.

ok, i made a fresh iso with etcher, booted into live, plasmashell seems to work, but Garuda Rani just shows an empty window

[PS. and that Garuda Chroot wont load either… same goes for the setup assistant, and the snappertool closes with a critical error retrieving filesysystem list.
would it be helpful to run the garuda boot repair? at what setting?]

well, the login screen on c+a+F2 was just black

ok, yesterday i tried to chroot by hand, following the steps from manual , but as soon as i boot normally, the crash from plasmashell still persists

Did you perform the update in chroot mode?
If so, try again later; it might work later.
If that also fails, a fresh install is the only option.

well, i tried again today, chrooted, run the update, reinstalled the bootloader, exit and reboot, but that didnt change anything

ANYHOW, @gampel was so nice to message me directly with a good hint:
i had to delete
plasmashellrc ,
.config-plasmashellfolder and
.cache-plasmashellfolder

now it is working again
Thank all for the help

I had the same problem yesterday, but I was able to fix it. First I created a new user as suggested here and for this new user everything was running fine regarding plasmashell, no crashes. Then I go back to my user account, moved all plasma* and kde* files in ~/.config to a backup folder, restart the system and solved the problem.
