I remember once I had to install noto-color-emoji-fontconfig due to emoji's not shown (actually the little dragon besides the start menu).
Maybe you could try it as well.

thanks, they are a lil different but it's still better than the ugly square...
Edit: getting this when i use octopi tho

and still some in the terminal

For the terminal, you could try with the Garuda Assistant, flagging Fish in Reset Configs (maybe also Alacritty and Bash) and pushing Reset Selected Configs.
For Octopi, I really don't know, it works fine for me, maybe it will fix with the reset as well.
I use Fira Sans fonts and BeautyLine icons, if this can help...

i reset both latte (why not, had some small issues with it) and Fish
image

that's an example of the icons not working in terminal, ofc everything breaks on me, why wouldn't it... just my luck

Would not be bad to know what changes you have made.

Try a working snapshot before the error occurred.

Log changes and updates.

is there a log i can pull out from somewhere? i mean it started after this thread
https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/load-icc-profile-system-wide-with-night-color
i don't have the snap anymore i have a manual one post installation and ones from today and yesterday...

i tried to replace some icons packages with the -git version since it was more up to date but it didn't work

That would have been good in your first post but that would take the fun out of guessing around for the helpers.

i tried that after my emoji/icons went missing, and i was searching in the forum, iโ€™ve read that sometimes after an update they can bug out like that, and get fixed in a day or so
this:

yeah, i should have noted it under the post, on the other hand i updated the system so i though it was that at the beginning

Today Iโ€™m so lazy :slight_smile:
Iโ€™ll copy what I wrote in another thread a few minutes ago:

You should rummage into your pacman.log, with something like
cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep 2021-10-15 | grep upgraded
changing the date of course, or using installed, etcโ€ฆ

can find logs only from 2021-10-15... welp... i feel it i'm my bones, i will have to get back to my installation snap, it's a curse... the same happened on my Rasbian, icons missing

i have done some digging in the arch forums, it seems i'm missing /etc/fonts/local.conf,

Fix:
downloaded ttf-twemoji from octopi, created a new XML file named it local.conf in /etc/fonts/, open it with kate and post

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>

 <alias>
   <family>sans-serif</family>
   <prefer>
     <family>Noto Sans</family>
     <family>Twemoji</family>
     <family>Twemoji</family>
     <family>DejaVu Sans</family>
   </prefer>
 </alias>

 <alias>
   <family>serif</family>
   <prefer>
     <family>Noto Serif</family>
     <family>Twemoji</family>
     <family>Twemoji</family>
     <family>DejaVu Serif</family>
   </prefer>
 </alias>

 <alias>
  <family>monospace</family>
  <prefer>
    <family>Noto Mono</family>
    <family>Twemoji</family>
    <family>Twemoji</family>
   </prefer>
 </alias>

</fontconfig>

logout, when you log back in the emojis are back :stuck_out_tongue:
