Lutris not launching, probably user error

After updating garuda today, i found i was unable to launch lutris. Before it had some trouble launching, but it was not consistently failing either. A second or third click on the icon in latte would launch it. Now it’s not working at all.

╭─user@thisoldpc in /var/cache/pacman/pkg🔒 took 103ms

Copy-pasting the error into google actually brought up a (rather old) garuda forum article: Lutris won't start – which links to a post on the lutris forum that describes:

doing a sudo mv /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/lutris* /usr/lib/python3.7/site-packages/

so i looked at my directory there:

╭─user@thisoldpc in /var/cache/pacman/pkg🔒 took 1s

drwxr-xr-x    - root 17 Sep 08:57  lutris

So it’s there…

╭─user@thisoldpc in /var/cache/pacman/pkg🔒 took 8ms

/home/user/anaconda3/bin/python

If my fish in terminal emulator is linked to the wrong version of python, is there a chance that when i launch it, it’s picking the wrong version or something?

oh i copied that after running garuda-update again after rebooting. does it put the reboot symbol even if the pacman returns the following?

:: Starting full system upgrade...
there is nothing to do

Rebooted again and still

Nope :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

??? IDK

I'd hoped i wouldn't have to do that, but here goes! At least it's easy to try...

No dice. Same error.

Show hidden files, then make sure you remove all the lutris folders;

  1. .cache/lutris
  2. .config/lutris
  3. .local/share/lutris

Reboot, then try installing Lutris.

Same error.

Try installing this package 'python-lxml'.

already had it, reinstalled, same error.

Very strange. You could try updating pip management…in terminal;

pip list --outdated --format=freeze | grep -v '^\-e' | cut -d = -f 1 | xargs -n1 pip install -U

If that doesn’t work, it could be a python thing, maybe try reinstalling python files??

Also try reinstalling ‘python-gobject’.

Are you rebooting after trying these?

Ask in Lutris forum :slight_smile:

I assume you are using the community version, but have you tried the 'lutris-git' version found in Chaotic-AUR?

Yes, i've tried both versions.

One last thing I will leave you with, I have 'libglvnd' and 'lib32-libglvnd' installed. This has been known in the past to throw that same error, install or reinstall, reboot.

I didn't have it installed, but i did try installing it. Again still same error. :frowning:
