Installation et grub

A la fin d’une mise à jour, mon PC a freezé => extinction “sauvage”, et redémarrage impossible. J’ai essayé de passer par un chroot : impossible de mettre à jour (pacman -Suyy) et plus de grub dans /boot. L’accès au réseau est actif (ping 8.8.8.8 fonctionne) mais pas d’accès aux dépots. J’ai essayé de réinstaller garuda (garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-240428.iso) : l’installation semble se passer normalement, mais toujours pas de grub au démarrage et pas de trace de garuda dans la partition EFI.
J’ai le même problème sur mon PC fixe, partitionné en MSDOS et sans UEFI.
Je n’ai pas trouvé de post pour un problème similaire, etgoogle n’est pas d’un grand secours.

Il suffit de poster sur le live ISO le garuda-inxi.
Dans le terminal

corrige presque toujours tous les problèmes.

Au lieu de pacman -Suyy, il vaut mieux utiliser update (upd ou garuda-update)

En cas de réinitialisation du matériel ou de coupure de courant, beaucoup de choses peuvent se casser.
Toujours passer d’abord par TTY ou par

Bonjour.

Quelle a été la méthode d’installation (remplacement d’une partition existante, partitionnement manuel, dual boot, etc…) ?
J’ai déjà effectué 2 installations sans problème, en installant Garuda à la place d’une partition.
Pour cela, avec le live ISO et gparted, j’ai effacé des partitions pour être certain d’en avoir une à remplacer qui me convienne.

Edit: la question est pour voir comment réinstaller le cas échéant. Mais avant, tu peux essayer de réinstaller le noyau et grub, si tu peux toujours passer en chroot :
pacman -S grub linux-zen

Si tu veux être ben sûr de mettre toutes les chances de ton côté tu peux choisir l’effacement complet du disque et la prise en charge totale du disque par l’installateur (dsl je n’ai pas regardé le nom exact en testant un ISO en Français). Évidemment tu perds toutes données sur le disque, c’est pe pas grave si tu t’en fous, sinon tu dois prendre des backups de tes données avant.

J’ai chrooté garuda à partir de l’iso en live (via l’excellent ventoy), suivant un tuto de ce présent forum garuda_chroot et j’ai réussi à redémarrer garuda, mais le boot est très long (plus de 10 mn !)

Je vais essayer de refaire un inxi à partir de la version en garuda-chroot, si ça peut être utile.
D’après mes recherches, le problème serait lié à plymouth, mais la solution proposée consistait à invalider plymouth via une commande gnome, or mon installation est en kde et justement je ne suis pas encore très à l’aise avec kde.

C’est hyper facile de désactiver plymouth temporairement le temps d’un boot, aucun lien avec gnome ou kde.

  • Tapes dans une ligne de commande sudo micro /etc/default/grub.cfg
  • À la ligne GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= ajoutes (ne remplaces pas!) à la fin :
plymouth.enable=0 disablehooks=plymouth

Ensuite sors de l’éditeur et dans la ligne de commande mets à jour grub avec la commande grubup.

Puis redémarre.

Si qque chose plante, avec le LiveISO c’est possible de revenir éditer grub.cfg pour enlever l’ajout, ou tu peux l’enlever manuellement avec la commande E dans GRUB pour éditer la ligne du kernel et te laisser redémarrer (même si ça prend 10mins à ce stade).

J’ai testé la modif de grub proposée par FGD : ça n’a rien changé. La responsabilité de plymouth devient du coup douteuse. D’autre part, comme garuda ne boote plus, comment rechercher les errreurs de boot, repérées normalement par dmesg : est-ce possible de le faire en chroot et quelle est la syntaxe correcte dans ce cas ?

Petite précision : j’ai entré les modifs directement au démarrage de grub : taper “e” pour édition, entrer les modifs, lancer le boot par F10

Ok le problème n’est sûrement pas relié à Plymouth alors.

Pour dmesg si la chance est avec toi pe que les fichiers boot.log se mettent à jour, ils sont dans /var/log/.

Si je monte ma partition “/” de garuda :

sudo mount -t btrfs /dev/sda6 /mnt

j’obtiens bien dans /mnt la liste des répertoires de garuda, les noms étant précédés de “@/” typique du btrfs, mais pas de “var” ni “/var” ni “@/var”
Où chercher ?
Si je passe par garuda-chroot, pourrai-je y trouver les informations concernant les boots défectueux ?
Bon, ben le meilleur moyen de le savoir est d’essayer … (à suivre …)

Si je passe par mon script de chroot, je retrouve bien /var (je pense qu’il se trouve dans proc ou run ?), mais pas de “boot.log” ou équivalent. Voyons donc ce que donne garuda-chroot

Démarrage grub de garuda : un job “interminable” après “Reached Basic system”
On retrouve la même mention du job, qui alors ne dure que 5mn, en lançant le live usb après “autorandr execution hook”, ce qui semble orienter les recherches vers nvidia
Je vais donc tenter de relancer le live sans “nvidia propriétaire” (option par défaut)

Je crois vraiment être sur la bonne piste !
L’iso d’installation propose les options “Boot whith open-source drivers” et “Boot allowing proprietary drivers”; j’ai tenté l’option “open source” et au boot le job qui posait problèmes est passé en quelques secondes au lieu de 5 mn !
On pourrait dire “c’est pas nouveau”, mais justement si ! J’envisage donc de passer à “nouveau” au lieu des drivers propriétaires Nvidia (qui pourtant marchent sur mes autres systèmes), peut-êtrre d’ailleurs via une réinstallation complète, quite à revenir à Nvidia par la suite.
Si quelqu’un a une idée à ce sujet, voire un commentaire, je suis preneur !

Ah ben sapristi, est-ce que nvidia te bloquerait à ce point-là… pe ben! Belle découverte.

Si jamais tu retournes dans le /@ de ton disque, les fichiers boot.log se trouvent dans @log au même niveau btrfs que /@.
