I downloaded GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 so Vrchat will work , where do i move the folder to?

Hi Everyone,

I did download GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 and unpacked the tar.gz File
so i got GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 as a folder now.
I however cant find out where to move the folder so the GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19
will show in Steam under compatibility so i can choose it to make VRChat run propperly.

I did find a folder called .local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/ but moving the folder there did not show the GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 in the compatibility menu sadly.

I as well did try to move the GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 Folder in
/home/shiny/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/ but sadly as well without
success.

Would be super if one of you would know where i need to move the folder so it works

Many Thanks in Advance

Please post your garuda-inxi as requested by the template.

Why? GE_Proton10_20_rtsp19-2 (proton-ge-custom-rtsp-bin) is available as a binary in the AUR. You can install it with:

paru -S proton-ge-custom-rtsp-bin

hi,

please post all time your garuda-inxi again with a new topic.

What is wrong if you just install VRChat with Steam? Normally Steam select the right packages for you to install to get it running .

Just as a look into the protondb website. 2 Post about rtsp versions arent good in performance so why you want this version?

We dont know which VR your using maybe there a issue with the right driver or missing dependencies ?

Hi Duke,

Yes the video & Song players are the reason why i did try out the latest GE-Proton-10-20-rtsp-19 but when i tryed not only did the song & video player still not work and the selfy Cam tracking ( what is at the only my only way of moving my arms and upper boday and such around in VRC) did not work neither ( so far it does not work with any Proton version though, but i as well could not even went to other worlds to meet friends. VRChat froze and had a black screen whenever i tryed.

For everyone who might have the same Issue ,

i use the Protogen 10.0-2 (beta) at the moment
Selfy Cam tracking - not working
World joining - working
Vid players - now and then working
copying and pasting youtube urls : not working

with the issues that Cam tracking is not working at all and Video / song players are only working now and then ( what is especially strange to me since why would it not work for the first couple of Youtube videos , then all of a sudden work for one and then again does not work for the next couple more videos ) . Joining Friends in other VR Worlds however luckily works again in this proton version.

But i am trying around to find a version that at least give me the Song Video players back
so i can see and listen when friends put Youtube Song and youtube Videos on the Players and such.

What is as well super strange , it seems that i cant copy and paste
anything into VRChat anymore. I noticed when i tryed to copy and paste a youtube
song in to see if the player would work shrugs

Hi Chris,

thx for the inxi but how you did copy it not seen this info also garuda-health is missing.

Thank you for this information how it works. I do have a VR but its the generation 1 for my Playstation 4. I did until today not try if i can use it on the PC lol. Im not to much in the VR or MetaVerse. I just read for different VR`s you need another driver like lighthouse or something to get it proper working .( just red on the vrdb website guide.

for this question:

I did find a folder called .local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/ but moving the folder there did not show the GE-Proton10-20-rtsp19 in the compatibility menu sadly.

/.local/share is not the right place if i remembering correctly . You should use your home folder if you installed steam normally not on a other SSD. So should be look like this /home/user/.steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d (replace user with your username) Then close steam completely and start it again it should be to see now.

Just to be sure did you checked if you have all drivers for it like dxvk ,vk3d and so on.
I would try other settings like the guys here do. Try other Kernels and wine Versions too.

i forgot about this maybe you can work with it and try it if it helps you. This will help you to mange different versions and you can set it up easier for Steam

sudo pacman -S protonup-qt

Pls bios update. Your bios is outdated.
Think on the right settings after.
Secure + Fast-Boot off / AHCI Mode not raid / UEFI not CSM / Resizebar Enabled

That should already be done, but @Chris83 hasn’t given any feedback on it yet. :man_shrugging:

Even you are newbie or not, you have a search engine, to look also self, sorry.
example:

Read in your manual, no manual → download it from there

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550M-PRO-VDH-WIFI/support#manual

Read on the msi page the how-to:

I’m sure I’m not a newbie.
And I’m also sure that you’ve hit the wrong reply button again. :winking_face_with_tongue:
