i started using garuda linux on exactly one year ago and iam using it on a ( Asus TUF Gaming F15 FX566LU HN251T Laptop) it ran without any issues. LITERALLY there was no issues at all.6 months ago i shifted to vanilla arch btw and gave it a try everything ran good until i wanted to shutdown or restart the laptop. i only use kde as my DE and this kernel panic only occurs when i try to shutdown or restart my computer. So i came back to garuda and same happened and i switched to cachy os and again the same thing happened and then i tried Arco linux same thing happened and finally i lost hope and tried fedora and nobara kde. Everything worked fine no issues i had the same oackages installled on fedora and nobara which i had on arch. I scoured through every forum iam also very very noob in kernel panic troubleshooting since i think only linux elite users understand it but anyway iam writing this after a restart kernel panic. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.

NOTE: i beg of you guys to help me. i love this distro and it was my first distro when i started using linux and i dont want to give up on garuda or arch based distro’s even if the Kernel panics occur
Please do not post here in the forum, like in chat forums like Telegram.
As long as no one has responded to your post, you can edit your post.
Try to follow the template:
After rebooting, post the FULL output of garuda-inxi
in the body of the post (not linked externally, or collapsed with the “hide details” feature)
Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi
) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</> ) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text
Use live ISO if boot not work.
I don’t think it’s a kernel panic, I use the terminal for reboot and shutdown.
Seems you didn’t search the forum, there are only three users so far with this weird behavior of KDE

You could try installing and then booting a different kernel, e.g. linux-lts:
sudo pacman -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers
At the next boot, you should select it in the GRUB menu under the advanced options.

“All” kernel I tried, failed.
linux, lts, zen.
That’s the fun part of a rolling release,
use old software
and it works
Fortunately, it works perfectly with Garuda’s other DE’s

Yeah but what version of KDE?
the new one 6.1 kde
Operating System: Garuda Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.9.8-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
No, I am asking what version of KDE is running on Fedora (where everything works). As SGS mentioned, several other users have this issue as well and it definitely seems to be a KDE bug. Most likely your Fedora installation is using an older version of KDE, from before the bug was introduced.

I will try to reboot using the terminal as you said
Here’s the > garuda-inxi output

How do you define kernel-panic?
Is that all in log?
For longer ones please use
By the way, please post terminal issues like this.
Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi
) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</> ) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text

I had a similar problem, but my kernel didn’t panic instead, the shutdown/reboot command would result in system freezing.
I am gonna take a wild guess and say it’s Proprietary NVIDIA Drivers.
If you’re okay with messing around the system, you can try the solution in my thread:
After using the system for some time with dedicated nvidia GPU, there is a very high chance that the system will freeze when I try to shut it down or log off. Sometimes it freezes as soon as I click on shutdown or log off, other times it appears to be shutting down, but it never shuts down 100%, just like in this post:
This does not happen with X11. This also does not happen if I boot into system with Nvidia GPU completely off (unload the drivers?) (using supergfxctl 4.0.5). I have used linux-…

Seems it differs for everyone. I got black screen and mouse pointer work, I can use TTY 2 to 7 and shutdown or reboot.
But I can’t start the session from TTY with startplasma-x11 or startplasma-wayland.
Same on Notebooks without Nvidia GPU. But also on PC with GeForce RTX 3060.

I noticed you are running under Wayland in Fedora but x11 in Garuda. What happens if you run Garuda w/Wayland & various kernels?
If you are comfortable installing and uninstalling packages via terminal I’d suggest try the nvidia-open-dkms
.

Just test it on notebooks, shutdown and reboot works fine with zen kernel.
Somebody fix it
PC (Nvidia) I can’t test at moment.
in x11 it occurs less but on wayland i experienced it a bit more
same with me if i had played any game or any gpu intensive task when i reboot or shutdown it goes into kernel panic or if i use the laptop for prolonged time and then reboot/shutdown my kernel panics
