hello computer people! so yesterday i decided to try out linux (garuda) for the first time. my problem is that everytime i try to connect to wifi, the process cancels after like 1min and it just says the connection is deactivated. i would be very happy if someone could help me. i can also provide additional information if needed
Start with garuda-inxi and follow this time the template you just ignored and deleted.
Missing information requested in the template may result in not receiving assistance
Make sure you have done the following before you post:
- Search the web and forums
- Read How to search for solutions the right way | Garuda Linux wiki
- Read FAQ and Tutorials Table of Contents
Issue still unresolved? Then:
- ONE issue per topic.
- Describe your issue in detail. The more we know, the better we can help
- Show us the results of your searches, and what you’ve tried
- After rebooting, post the FULL output of
garuda-inxi
in the body of the post (not linked externally, or collapsed with the “hide details” feature)
- Format terminal output (including your
garuda-inxi
) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text
Without garuda-inxi this request will be moved to 412 Precondition Failed
ok so since im not connected to wifi on my desktop, the best i can do is a picture of my screen but as i just found out i am not allowed yet to post images in this forum. so no inxi possible i guess. + i already tried finding a solution for my problem but it didnt work yet. thanks for the help though
Did you try or can you use tethering, but it works for 1 min.
Please no pictures from terminal and system settings.
Images can be read worse, are not searchable and copyable for further search.
unfortunately not (cant connect a cable) im in a bad place it seems.
Pictures consumes considerably more data volume then text. Connect the phone to the PC and copy the terminal text to it.

You have no USB C or A cable?
How do you charge your smartphone battery?
i am still working on transfering the .txt on my iphone as in being able to actually send it to you

Search for the wifi driver in forum.
im pretty sure i already have the right driver but i couldnt find a way to execute the setup to install it if that makes sense. so how do i actually get the driver to work?

@sethox, I’ve patched an updated driver. This package is orphaned, you can install AUR (en) - rtl8822bu-dkms instead, which includes my patch.
Seems you must wait for our Network specialists.
im crazy confused i cant load the patch bc the file types cant be copied to my usb drive so i cant load it on my desktop. also i dont know how to convert them back to their original form after making them a txt file. so yeeeaah i might be a bit too stupid for linux it appears.
Whats the responce for
journalctl -u NetworkManager | grep wifi
You could try install nmcli
with ethernet on
and use it like
nmcli connection modify <Your Wifie> autoconnect no
maybe even restart your NetworkManager
systemctl restart NetworkManager
nmcli radio wifi off
nmcli radio wifi on
I mean, this are just a bunch of commands I would have tried.
- my wifi adapter seems to work a little bit because it can find all the wifis in my area it just struggles to actually connect
thanks a lot im gonna try these
In my opinion you should try this driver:
sudo pacman -S rtl88x2bu-dkms-git
Afterwards blacklist your current module:
echo "blacklist rtw88_8822bu" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtw8822bu.conf
And reboot.
If that doesn’t work, delete /etc/modprobe.d/rtw8822bu.conf and remove the package:
sudo pacman -R rtl88x2bu-dkms-git
If rtl88x2bu-dkms-git is not found (maybe removed from Chaotic-AUR)
paru rtl88x2bu-dkms-git
Exit from the PKGBUILD preview with button q and confirm installation.
