Wifi permanently switching on off

Sorry but i dont use any VPN…

I’m afraid that setting a static ip is a bit complicated for me, but i would look at it…

it is a dualband 2.4 and 5 GHZ module . i thought its only a single Band on 2.4 GHZ. i read a post here to lower down the 5 GHZ Frequenzy. Also your bluetooth isnt working right when im not wrong. I had a issue with my Bluetooth and dissabled it (dropping wifi speed issue only not the disconnecting).

its hard to find the issue. i dont know how to downgrade KDE back to 5.9 for testing if you said since KDE6 Update.

Did you try this?

Take the files you have already “”“By the way in /lib/firmware i can see iwlwifi-8000C-34.ucode.zst and iwlwifi-8000C-36.ucode.zst”“” renamed it to other name or move out in a backup folder then only let the wifi .ucode in it and restart for testing?

In my wifi box i cant choos between 2.4 and 5 GHZ… It’s automatic i think…

I disabled bluetooth even at the start of the laptop, but no change again…

I will try those changes tonight (it’s my home laptop) in /lib/firmware tonight and let you know…

I’m 62 and already quite a few gray hairs.
But now I’m afraid I’ll soon have no hair at all.

Be happy, young boy, because you still have hair.

Don’t think, just read the manual.

Try using your network with 802.11g and WPA2 Personal/WPA Personal and AES encryption or switch off the encryption completely to test.

Have you tried this:

@ Duke187

I tried to move away iwlwifi-8000C-34.ucode.zst and iwlwifi-8000C-36.ucode.zst.
So i only had iwlwifi-8000C-13.ucode
Reboot and no wifi at all.

@ nepti

I tried to boot in the live environment with the iso and the wifi works like a charm.

You need to replicate the network components from the live disk to your computer. Check and record the package version numbers from as many network components as you can locate. The firmware version of the ucode file used in /lib/firmware is a good place to start. Then NetworkManager, wpa_supplicant, and dhcpcd would be the next candidates to downgrade to the working versions from the live disk. There are other network components that could be part of your problem, but the ones I listed are the most likely candidates to test downgrading first.

maybe try to downgrade the networkmanager with "sudo downgrade networkmanager " and chose a numbered before not same who is installed.

I compare the files in /lib/firmware with the iso and they are stricltly the same.

Also these three programs version are the same.

networkmanager 1.46.0-2
wpa-supplicant 2:2.10-8
dhcpcd 10.0.8-1 not installed both sides.

hm then maybe the hard way i had to do after some not right installed apps

garuda-update remote reinstall

this will install your app like on the iso image .if you say on the iso works like a charm =)

Finally I tested this order and everything seems to have gone well.
And the result is much better. In brave, I get a “you are currently offline” message and immediately afterwards a “you are currently connected” message, but only every 15 or 20 minutes.
This used to happen several times a minute.
And I no longer have a complete disconnection from wifi that requires me to enter my password.
In short, we’re making progress and Garuda is pretty usable as it is.

I’m continuing my tests, but a big thank you to you Duke187 for this idea.

Edit…

False alarm and false joy… After twenty hours or so, the problem returned, perhaps even worse than before.
I don’t understand it anymore.
Maybe it’s time for me to give up… :face_exhaling:

Or try a fresh installation and see what happens.

what you mean worse than before?

what issues do you have now?

the garuda-update remote install is like nearly new reinstall.i read many people have issues with the new bluez update with combo wifi -bluetooth cards in laptops.

so when your iso working. May do a Backup from your data and install your iso newly i have a iso before kde6 update i have to read their app versions or driver.lol wired

Let’s try this one:

Network configuration/Wireless - ArchWiki

iwlwifi

iwlwifi is the wireless driver for Intel’s current wireless chips, such as 5100AGN, 5300AGN, and 5350AGN. See the full list of supported devices.

If you have problems connecting to networks in general or your link quality is very poor, try to disable 802.11n, and perhaps also enable software encryption:

/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1

I’m afraid I’m wasting your time.
I don’t think the problem lies with my laptop, but rather with my wifi network.
I took my second laptop with me, also a thinkpad, and the problem is the same.
What’s even stranger is that my wife’s laptop, running win11, and even my TV all use this same wifi network and they have no problems and no outages.
One of my two thinkpads is in dual boot with win11 (I know… It’s very bad) and I have no wifi problems under win11.
All this doesn’t explain why I haven’t had any wifi problems with live iso. Maybe I didn’t test long enough.
As you can see, I’m going off in all directions, but I’m just trying to explore all avenues…
I look forward to reading your opinions, but the hardware route no longer seems right to me.

for me its okay its learning by doing.

sometimes its the hardware or produced error on company"s lool.why i say this?

i have a motherboard with b550 chipset. if i had windows 10 running in dualboot with any linux the wifi dint work anymore after shutdown windows.not my parrot linux or garuda find wifi anymore. if i start windows back and let connecting it worked. i pressed the reset button on the pc and put windows ssd from power and let start garuda or parrot and both worked with wifi again . Thats my bug where i figured out but on a laptop i dont know lol.
