Upgrade to Ultimate is causing broken emojis

After a clean install, while upgrading to Garuda Ultimate, I selected only Printer, Scanner and Samba Support (for everything else I hit No and Cancel). After upgrading, I restarted and figured out that this Screenshot_2 turned into this -> Screenshot_2
Also, even in Kate I was able to see emojis, but not after this.

As I have Timeshift, no worries. After trying each option with Yes in Garuda Setup Assistant, I finally figured out that this happened with Printer, Scanner and Samba Support only.

Edit: It's not only with Printer, Scanner and Samba Support. Even without it the problem occurs when upgrading to ultimate.

Interesting find! This was reported a few times already but somehow I never really got to know what the issue was as emojis were installed properly
Maybe there is a package interfering with the emojis, gotta investigate :eyes:

This is a never a good way to end a post  It makes it seems a lot like a demand.. But thanks for taking the time to spot and report it!

I thought to search for this before, but couldn't find the actual keyword for this! I wish Discourse offered Image search! :innocent:

Are they emojies or fonts? Just wondering!

Ya I know!
Changed it for good.

You welcome! Actually I messed up so many things at once in Garuda Welcome and this happened unfortunately. To hunt where I did wrong, I actually took 1/4th of the day, enabled/disabled Adguard DNS, hblock, other things in Garuda Assistant, tried changing in Garuda Network Assistant, etc… (ya, for each thing I rebooted to make sure it’s not the thing causing it!) I’m happy that I finally figured out

I never really bothered a lot with fonts until now tbh. I mean you basically install noto-fonts-emoji and have working emoji, no need to think about it more
In this situation though it would be good to know more, there is for sure a thing such as font loading order or something similar… :eyes:

Its quite a rewarding feeling, isnt it?

I Upgraded to Ultimate without Printer, Scanner and Samba Support but still it's bugging the same.

Thanks for the link. I tried installing all available packages starting with noto-fonts-emoji... but none worked. They only changed the appearance in Emoji Selector.

I didn't install ultimate but I had the same issue start about a week ago or possibly more, can't remember and no idea what caused it.
Today I only installed noto-color-emoji-fontconfig from AUR and that fixed it. I rebooted, but probably just needed to reload the panel to see the dragon emoji.
