Unable to reboot after installation

Hi,

I'm unable to reboot garuda on my system even after installing it.

Initially, my system had both Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 11. I want to delete the whole existing OS. Today, I downloaded the garuda iso file and was able to install it successfully. But, after rebooting I find ubuntu and windows in the grub menu. I don't find any trace of garuda and the system boots back to ubuntu/windows (according to choice) after removing the USB. What should I do?

Please help.

S

Without a proper garuda-inxi output from a live session, it is basically impossible to figure out what the cause of this is without guessing. Please post it according to the forum template along with the output of efibootmgr.

Looks simple enough, not sure what went wrong there.

sudo efibootmgr -o 0004,0002,0000,0001,0003,0005

Followed by unplugging the USB stick (after shutting down of course) and rebooting should do the trick.

let me try and see if it works

nope, :frowning: didnt work.

In that case, you will have to change your boot priorities in your bios, since it does not seem to be possible to change them from within a booted OS for some reason. You can confirm this by running efibootmgr again and looking at BootOrder.

give me 2 minutes

the bootorder doesnt seem to change for some reason.

is reinstalling grub an option? if so, how can we do it?

I mean of course, but that's not the problem here. Your problem is that the boot order is incorrect and is booting Ubuntu before Garuda. You just have to change the boot order in your bios and it'll be fine.

the thing is, garuda doesn't show up in the grub menu.

No, that is Ubuntu's grub menu. Garuda has it's own, you just have to change the boot order.

If I read this correctly, Garuda is your only operating system, so you should be able to delete the other entries:

sudo rm -r /boot/efi/EFI/MICROSOFT
sudo rm -r /boot/efi/EFI/UBUNTU
sudo efibootmgr -B 0000
sudo efibootmgr -B 0001

ok let me try and see

where exactly do we need to type these commands? in the garuda terminal right? please correct me if I'm wrong. when I enter the above commands it says the file doesn't exist, which lead me to think that I might have deleted the os from the disk but the ubuntu's grub menu shown in the above picture reappears after removing the thumb drive.

Which file?
The MICROSOFT EFI folder or the UBUNTU EFI folder or both?

both microsoft and ubuntu

Okay, that should be all you need then, as long as the other 2 commands executed correctly.

problem still not solved. somebody please help

Please post the output of efibootmgr.
