Just restore a snapshot to s point before you updated. Your on arch so updates are random most fine some bad. You missing your garuda inxi as well

Recently 1 or 2 minute delays on startup have been reported on both our forum and the Arch Linux forum. This likely means the issue is not one specific to Garuda, and there’s not much we can do to fix things on our side.

It may be a kernel regression, so test as many alternate kernels as possible to see if another kernel boots quicker.

Some cases reported point towards an issue with KDE, but we’ll never know if that’s your problem, as you have not posted your garuda-inxi output yet. Without your garuda-inxi we would require a magic 8ball or crystal ball to diagnose your issue. :8ball: :crystal_ball:

It was not 2 minutes for me, but might have been nearly a minute (started to get a bit nervous there). Usually it takes just 2-3 seconds. It was right after I updated to KDE Plasma 6.2.1 and restarted.

EDIT:
Luckily, my splash screen was finished after the minute I have mentioned, not like here:

Simply telling EVERYONE to rollback all the time is not solving the issue. That said I have restarted my machine yet, but when I did my roommates updates and restart when it got to the splash screen of about a minute or so it became translucent and you could see things loading on the desktop but not do anything til the splash screen doing its thing.

Well since the splash screen bug has be around since plasma 5 an the solution was to roll back or just remove the splash screen/update it to something released after the update. Fastest solution has been to role back. But since your the expert please enlighten with the perfect solution.
Also please report it on the bug report on https://bugs.kde.org/ if you have anything fresh to add that they don’t already have.

Looks like kwin pushed out a update might want to try that.

why update at all then. Update just to roll back is dumb, and a pain to deal with. Is there a better way of dealing with this?

To be honest use a distro like opensuse slowroll or tumbleweed. Cause arch it the latest. An with that can come issues. You can always wait to update when there are core system changes an the fixes have gone around. Cause its up to you the user to maintain an know whats in your system that may cause issues. Cause that’s is just how arch is. Its not all that hand hold like for better or worse.

i’ll go piss in the wind thanks. Telling me to go to a diffrent distro because you pushed out a turd of a update is next level. Why not try and fix your distro instead of being pissy with users of it.

This is no longer of any use here, garuda-inxi and log files are also missing. Garuda can’t fix the upstream problems and they can happen with a rolling distribution.

Everything has been said, even if not exactly in a nice colloquial language.
