That fits, the game runs on the dGPU.

This does not fit, the game does not run on the dGPU but on the iGPU. Did you start this game with prime-run?

Funny readout error…nvidia can’t even do that properly - what do they actually do at nvidia for a living?

I´m not a pro..but if you have a hdd free → install new, special if you must change from amd to nvidia.
Or all by hand… deinstall all relevant amd driver → reboot → install nvidia-dkms or lts if you use a lts kernel.

or ambitious :
use all 3 gpus → insert the gpu → boot → install all relevant driver (only if your MB can handle this) → use prime to activate
→ easy step lol

you use “mokka” with wayland
perhaps “sddm-kcm or kcm-utils” can be the problem.
(myself, have no issue with mokka x11/wayland on my testsystem.
test with x11 and then ?

with prime-run + another game + issue actively occurring

Yeah, everything works fine on X11 but this is actually the first time ive had an issue on Wayland and I can still play games. I played The Ascent for hours last night on wayland no problem but as soon as I quit and switch to another game the issue comes.

I was able to kill steam and regain control and this is the result.

then If i reboot it will clear up.

Well, sometimes it start with, next it start not with.
No idea at the moment

They say “Buy a generation 5XXX” and you have no probs :joy:

I ran a full diagnostic on rani

It " looks" normal for me.
your Igpu use dri ( @start )
nvidia module is loading without errors
the eglinfo stuck trace is “normal”
→ since mesa 1:24.3xx with nvidia-utils + older gpu then 16xx

All other infos about failing or what ever are not relevant for your issue
(my mind)

Perhaps this :
Insert

nvidia_drm.modeset=1

in the kernel parameters over Garuda Boot Options (after quiet)
→ reboot test (inside wayland)–> if the same result reverse pls.

thank you for your answer

just picked up the Nvidia Card and i am back. Its installed now and i did chance in my uefi to pcie not igpu and reboot. It started i didnt see any pic from boot and the login comes up after password the system freezes no function.Yeah just for Fun so i will install fresh. I used before a Saphire R9 390 Nitro but this card is dead now. It short my pc off so it was then only running on my cpu/gpu Amd Processor

a new thread for this if…only
without nvidia driver and perhaps nouveau is blacklisted +

how can it function ?

Do you only have this issue with games or does it also happen when you start other applications via prime-run, for example

prime-run garuda-rani

(check this with nvidia-smi)?

As a test, do this several times in a row:

prime-run inxi -F | grep “renderer”

The nvidia GPU should always be displayed.

Do you also have the issue when you disconnect the external monitor?

Please upload /var/log/Xorg.0.log to Garuda PrivateBin.

What bothers me is that this only occurs on wayland:

Open htop in the terminal and watch the CPU/MEM utilization as soon as the issue occurs.

Tried this, It didnt work.

Yes I only have issues with games. Typically I dont use prime-run for applications, only games.

I never unplug the external monitor. I use it as display 1 and generally have the built-in display off unless im tweaking games, then it acts as extended display. Ive done it this way for a couple years now.

how you mean?

so yeah it seems my motherboard didnt support this card or anymore with new bios dint work at all. It was only a frozen picture who comes up after monitor restart from power button (old hp). iI can chance in bios/uefi my primary output ?

Btt please.

@uncertain122 htop looks good, no indication that wayland or anything else is the cause of the freezing/hanging and Xorg.0.log is clean.

What bothers me is this:

I noticed kwin-OpenGL errors in the logs and your nvidia GPU is not recognized as OpenGL renderer. This is what it should normally look like:

╭─nepti@archangel in ~
╰─λ prime-run inxi -F | grep “renderer”
renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2

Something is wrong, post the output of:

prime-run glxinfo -B

That’s correct, then OpenGL was just a red herring.

Did you install something beforehand or carry out a system update that could be the cause? If so, then post the output from:

cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep '2025-03-19' | grep -E 'installed|upgraded|removed'

Replace the date with the day you installed or upgraded something, for example ‘2025-03-15’.
