Hey everyone,
I have Garuda Dragonized installed on my laptop, which hasn't been updated for over a month. Now when I try to update, the system gets stuck on loading initial ramdisk. If I revert to the latest snapshot from last month, everything works fine.
Any clues?

Read system logs.
Normally, Iâd check the pacman.log to see what was updated and try understand what might have an impact on the boot process, but I think that skipping updates for over a month would make it a mission impossible.
I think you should try to re-execute the update and then start troubleshooting with:
I would suggest one thing. Read the post in announcements about the changes to garuda common settings and make sure you don't have the zram setter which was used initially if you have uninstall it then update your system
Rather than unistalling, I'd say make sure to "Press yes to the systemd-swap removal (to make sure not two applications are setting up ZRAM)"
Always use the terminal and pacman update commands when updating after long time. GUI applications are not always handling pacman interactivity properly (except octopi that I know of).
If you did use pacman in terminal, then post the output of the installation process (only), so we can see the possible problem. (use text, not images)

Where is the problem?
This seems to break your X/plasma. I donât see your screen to know exactly what happens, so replace it with normal and you may be lucky.

Sadly, still no luck. I have replaced kwin-lowlatency with kwin, merged pacnew files using pacdiff, removed orphaned packages, I don't have any other kernels - I have only installed zen.
Also, I have updated nvidia drivers.
Still, when I try to reboot the system, it gets stuck on loading initial ramdisk and then nothing happens. Any other way to diagnose where the problem might be?
Maybe you could remove "quite splash" from boot parameters in the grub, to see additional messages and maybe also sometimes removing splash helps...
Edit: sorry, at that early step I don't think this will help at all (I got confused with stuck on plymouth screen)
Or press ESC on splash screen.
If you dual-boot with Windows, that's the problem.
Check your BIOS if Secure and fast boot are disabled.
If you boot to a snapshot, restore to the snapshot from Timeshift before doing updates and reboot again to the main entry. Then update chaotic mirrorlist first. Next update chaotic keyring. Then full update packages.
Is the issue resolved?
I think it's some kernel and nvidia drivers combination issue if ur on desktop. If ur on laptop and it has integrated GPU u probably wouldn't have this problem until and unless u were booting on dgpu which has f** drivers
Go to terminal with ctrl+alt+F2
Try
lsmod | grep nvidia
If u see some stuff probably nvidia drivers are loaded, run this
startx
Erros are to be reported back here
If u didn't have the drivers loaded ull have to run
modprobe nvidia
startx
To check if u have the drivers at all ready to go run
lspci -nnk | grep nvidia
If u don't see nvidia in available drivers ull have to reinstall nvidia-all or something

Well I can't and won't teach ppl what a dgpu is and how gpus work on desktop. If ur using nvidia laptop or desktop u have to do some research and know something Abt it to fix things. Thanks
