I see a big difference when I start with the CachyOs Bore kernel

Yep I have tried it.
I am currently trying Cachyos kernel (BORE+EEVDF) but it has increased my boot time…
Wil revert to bore only maybe.

Be happy with whatever you have :slightly_smiling_face:

Young people today have more time than older people

In the past, you could go for a smoke in peace and quiet so as not to watch the booting process in vain.

Today I’m glad I don’t smoke any more, because otherwise I’d miss the chance to decide which Garuda DE I want to start today. Multi-boot also saves you the USB stick

Trust me.

I remember in the 90s, a computer had trouble booting off the HDD. Took a good timed hit to the computer case to get the HDD spinning right. Probably added a good chunk of time to the boot process . Gave the HDD a little more life until the platter of the drive phsyically cracked from the head. Now that is a head crash!

Actually I can’t buy new laptop just in the name of slow booting time

BTW,I have got the solution of the problem

reduced the boot speed from 1min 11 sec to 20 sec :sunglasses:
don’t ask me how I did it :stuck_out_tongue:
played with some BIOS things, while keeping a backup of all my data …

actually, even by disabling it there isn’t any big difference

actually one of the biggest change that I did from BIOS was to disable hyprthreading :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
so I have now 4 cores instead of 8 :slightly_smiling_face:
but I got good system boost

Oh , and if you are really looking JUST for boot up time speed , try nonSystemD but it will bit tricky to live with it (you have to compile every thing) .

Maybe because I have always lived with old, slow systems
And then, all I got to do is read PDFs and watch YT!

Story Time

This laptop had Windows 10 in it with a good amount of malvare. Now imagine this, my mom used this as a work PC earlier and her work includes VMware! To this day, I don’t know how she managed to not complain when with WIn 10 I couldn’t even watch a YT video peacefully… I gues Linus (Tech Tips) said it right, normal (non tech-savvy) people just don’t care unless they have Software issues.
Meanwhile I had a GREAT laptop (AMD Ryzen 3, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, TPM 2.0) but I exchanged it with mom because I was afraid installing Linux on that machine  This laptop, I call it EXPERIMENT SPECIMEN!
