Using Pantheon Desktop now…
It is simple and polished. You can’t customise it much.
X11 only for now. Wayland is in testing phase. Should release soon…
Think I have settled for now until Plasma 6.1 releases and my exams are over…
Please forgive me...
Btw this is OpenSuse Tumbleweed (rolling release) via Gecko Linux (live session Calamares installer). Thought I would spend some time with it. It too has BTRFS Snapper snapshotting capabilities just like Garuda, which was really useful when the update got stuck twice on the 2 year old Gecko Linux ISO install! The update was successful the third time! Should be the magic of OBS and Zypper (one of my favorites) pkg-manager! The snapshot rollback process is not that nicely implemented as Garuda.
Yast is great, but its UI looks old.
One downside from an enthusiast’s point of view is it’s repositories aren’t as vast as Arch and its AUR, though it’s largely sufficient for simple day-to-day & corporate use cases OpenSuse is mainly used for…
In OpenSuse you have to deal with a lot with repositories for installing several less-known apps, unlike Arch where you have almost all the packages in the Linux world in its official repos or at least in the AUR.
Yast makes repo management a breeze though…
Overall OpenSuse is a decent stable rolling distro, probably my 2nd or 3rd favourite after Garuda…
Garuda is still my favourite, and I still have Garuda Gnome on my primary laptop.
Saw a lot of replies after mine with cool login managers, so I decided to spice mine up a bit:
Installed SDDM and enabled it (still have GDM in case I ever have a reason to go back). The theme is corners. I followed the ReadMe to make a couple changes
(also, I did try to directly screenshot my monitor from the lock screen itself but I didn’t have much luck following the tutorials I came across, so I just settled for a picture of it from my phone)
@SGS,
That’s some awesome wallpaper!
Thanks , I was playing around with Blender a little bit
Here’s mine. It’s Garuda Linux of course. The Window manager is EXWM, I have polybar on the top (with nm-applet on the far right showing my wireless status). Picom is the composite manager and it’s customized for rounded windows. Enjoy!
(Edit - I didn’t have the background set correctly. Now it is)

I love your Conky setup. Nice and compact!
Need-to-know only lol. The new Plasma KDE release also allows full transparency on the Conky widget background, like it could do some years ago but lost for a while in favor of a light fill background ! I am happy to have the full transparency back!
It was totally possible to have Conky transparent before Plasma 6.
You had to disable the KWin Script Force Blur.
I’m not sure there was a way to setup conky.conf to bypass Force Blur, but that KWin Script was blurring some transparent (and colored) windows, including Conky.
Plasma 6 has lost Force Blur, but someone is about to port it back. If it ever gets installed by default somehow on your machine one day and your Conky suddenly gets blurred, go take a look and disable it.
Oops, I’m out of context of the thread. Sorry, mouth shut, now!
Before (i have to use breeze theme as kvantum bluring not working… also some widget not working )
finally plasma customization with kvantum comes back
also panel icons (dragonized plasma theme) are working for me which are not works in plasma 5
but plasma 6 set limit of min panel height to 32… that is not good for my customization with screen 1366x768
my right sidebar looks bad
Actually I may need to disable more kwin scripts than that some day soon lol so it is good to know! I did originally have it working full transparent, circa 2021-2022. Then it changed -wrapped into the defaults as you state.
I find it also hyper sensitive or lost my previous relaxed snap settings. I am decidedly now in the post honeymoon phase of the new kde and plasma roll/outs!
i have massive issues with my keyboards and network vpn management and i am leaning toward blaming wayland for all of this hassle.
nice wallpaper… link please
