Roblox (thru grapejuice) just lags for no reason at times

You can install GOverlay to configure MangoHUD. Enable CPU temp somewhere in GOverlay’s Mangohud tab.

edit: oh, oh! I get something that could cause epileptic seizures!

The point is to monitor temps while playing. If using MangoHUD/gamescope is not fine for you, there are other ways to do that.

  1. ok

  2. I meant as in the game could constantly go black and then render again. To my eyes it looks like it's happening every frame.

running vkcube thru goverlay says around 50-60 C for the CPU.

Wow, vkcube apparently heats CPUs.

running glxgears thru mangohud glxgears is the same. Around 50-60 C for the CPU.

insterstingly GPU temps aren't reported at all even though they are enabled.
Edit: PFFT, it was me checking the wrong checkbox.

Maybe my graphics drivers are trying to do opengl/vulkan in software? if that's the case that's annoying.

edit:

goverlay annoyingly just won't save the GPU temp setting, it keeps reverting it to
GPU core frequency if i quit, and even if i dont quit

mangohud vkcube doesn't display temps.

Funnily enough, the GPU temp is at 0C.

also sysctl dev.i915.perf_stream_paranoid=0 doesn't persist across reboots for some reason.

so please check temps while running Roblox, not with vkcube/glxgears.

Also you don’t have a discrete GPU so CPU temp should be same as GPU temp. Enable CPU temps and try again.

CPU temps are enabled.

Whoa, whoa, Minimum temps are 60C, max are like 80C.

I'm surprised that my PC got so hot, if it was in F it would be more reasonable.

What am I supposed to do, use my PC in a freezer?

You do realize the way you report a temp C or F is the exact same thing. Hot is hot. Your ambient temperatures are also relevant here…please share.

I meant that 60F would be more reasonable than 60C.

Also Kelvin exists.

My apartment also has not A/C or fans in it (thank god i don't overheat).

My ambient temperature, I actually don't know and don't have a thermometer on hand.

It's a bit on the hotter side though.

And before you tell me to buy a thermometer, im just some random 13 y/o and no one I know is going to buy me a thermometer for a support forum.

Weird how my HP2000NotebookPC has an option in the UEFI to force fans on, but my current laptop doesn't. They keep downgrading stuff lol.

It's also weird that NONE of this stuttering happens on Windows. Odds are its my fans not turning on as even when playing Untitled Tag Game [beta] on Roblox i can't hear my fans.

Do you have a firmware update? Is there any fan control software or vendor software installed in Windows? Do you actually hear fan noise on Windows?

  1. Probably.

  2. No.

  3. Not when playing Roblox.

It seems that the stuttering isn't limited to roblox.

When running GZDoom with BrutalDoomPlatinum, a mod which runs fine on windows
but stutters randomly.

Is your laptop model HP 15-bs000? Your inxi tells 15-bs0xx so this is closest I could find:

If you are not sure, use this page:

Download and update firmware from Windows 10.

On the sticker it says

HP 15-bs020wm

Download firmware from here:

I can’t either. Usually, they shout at me when taking notice of my presence! ( sorry, I had to  )

I asked that question because AFAIK some PCs with Pentiums don’t actually have fans. So it was serious.

Mines too, except that they don’t resolve overheating :rage:

Updated UEFI.

I'll see how the performance goes. edit:

Performance either same or slightly better, still random lag spikes in Untitled Tag Game [beta]. At this point we've probably all run out of ideas, but I don't seem to think that this is a hardware issue when windwoes runs roblox just fine.

Note than an even weaker HP2000Notebook i own with it's born on date saying 2013 has fans.

edit: on further inspektion, i noticed I have baloo. I didn't install it, or at least I don't recall doing so. Should I uninstall it and see if things improved? apparenlt baloo + BTRFS = bad.

For some reason I can't edit the post above so I didn't delete baloo but performed
balooctl disable.

I installed EndeavourOS but DID NOT nuke Garuda Dr460n1z3d.

Performance is WAAAAAAAAAY better.

I'll backup all configs I want from Garuda dr460n1z3d, then nuke both my garuda AND endeavourOS installs and decide which distro i should use lol.

Well, some progress. I don't know how I couldn't think about that, but did you try disabling compositor on Garuda? Shift+Alt+F12 should disable compositor along with all the fancy stuff.

Did you try disabling the power-profiles as well?

disabling the compositor made no difference on my dr460n1z3d.
