I mean its a arch based distro an always rolling so its just a update. Though with all the backend changes with arch an pacman an all that it might be nice for just a new stable image.
One zen an one LTS since that seems to be a thing now.
Well, it’s always up-to-date, it would just reduce the effort of a larger (garuda-update) download amount.
You are talking about dragonized here, there are no other LTS versions apart from Xfce.
I would be happy to build new ISO’s if testers could be found who would install them on hardware, although at the moment we probably have to consider other than just the Ventoy variant, i.e. dd etc…
There seem to be problems with Ventoy.
Our small team does not only have Garuda in mind, it also has, I hope , a private life.
The more people help, the faster we can simplify the life of all new users, the rest is always up-to-date anyway. Always keep an eye on /etc/skel , and the forum.
You can’t compare a rolling distribution with M$ or Ubuntu, Mint, MX Linux, where an upgrade is necessary every year.
It doesn’t install the ISO ,
but it varies from user to user or hardware to hardware or whatever.
IDK why it doesn’t work anymore. I think we need a ventoy update.
Has anyone reported the hit or miss situation to the devs? As you said it works for some and not others. I have yet to have a issue with Ventoy, but it’s probably past due for a update since it’s been on 1.0.99 for awhile now.
I have a spare notebook too if you need help testing anew ISO in the future.
I know that new releases are not needed in rolling releases every year, I manly enjoy them to display new features to new users and promote the distro. The birds of prey one with kde 6 and the new firedragon was a great one !
FWIW, I’ve never had the .tar not work. Just open it and run it that way. I’ve had not great luck with the AUR version over the years. Just something people could try if their having issues with it. It was not the most useful thing until I started actually getting it from them.
In chaotic-aur, you only build what is currently available on AUR.
It should be up-to-date. If there is something newer on their homepage that works, I don’t understand anything anymore
Maybe it differs on different hardware???
But it’s nice to see that you still like my avatar for you
Ask and you shall receive. The fresh install of Garuda I did not even a week ago to see if I could get rid of the monitor issue I mentioned in my one thread was done using the current Ventoy and It installed perfectly. All in all it was under five minutes til I was on the installed desktop. Before I replace the ISO’s on it I created a fresh Ventoy key so it’s less than two weeks old itself.
Thank you very much, btw. what is a new ventoy key?
