Pixma MX475 printer drivers installed but still no reaktion form the Printer

Hi Everyone,

I try top get my Printer Canon Pixma MX475 to work under Linux Garuda,
I tryed several different drivers for it. The Driver i have currently installed is
Canon MX470 series - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.5 Simplified [en].
The Printer shows up in the Printer Settings Window and since it has a green arrow i guess it is as well connected to Linux Garuda correctly. However when i try to print out something,
the printing task will show up only for a moment in the printing-task-waiting line window then disappears. Would be super if someone could help me to fix this.
The Printer is a multifunction divice printer/scanner/fax but i would allready be super happy if printing and scanning function would work again.
I did search through the other topics about printers that had similar problems but could not find a solution to this one yet.

Garuda is fully updated and I as well did a reboot, but still nothing has changed. Whenever i try to print something it will show up in the printer task waiting row window , just for a moment though & fully disappear then.

You should use cups to add a printer (my mind)

Not really no, i never used the Fax function, it has a scanner function i used quite a lot though.

Driver i have currently installed is

From my experience with Canon printers in Linux I can say that sometimes the driver from similar (but different) model numbers works, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve always found Canon printer drivers to be finicky, and a bit of a crap shoot with Linux.

My last purchase a few months back I bought a Brother laser printer and I didn’t even need to install a driver for it. You’ll generally pay a premium for Brother printers, but they are usually much more compatible with Linux. Personally I would never buy any manufacturer’s printer model without doing a lot of research first. Confirm via searching that others have successfully installed a working Linux driver for the model you are considering before ever making a printer purchase.

YMMV, so you always need to do your research before making any hardware purchase intended for use with Linux

Then test. (if not take nr1)

Yes, you can make a reboot then test again if not use your installed driver.
But think on it, this is only for printing. (cups)
Take a look that the printer is not in standby mode.
For scanning you use sane + app. (sane daemon must be active)
