Hmm
 Interesting !
I like your stories of love with C

BTW
your story is of romance with C
my story is loneliness lead me here , my father has a job in which he used to get transferred after every 3 years  because of which I had to say goodbye to whatever friends I used to make in 3 years, it’s hard to make new friends (physically) , I usually don’t used to talk with others , that’s why I used to have very less no. of friends (physically). If I would assign how many friends I had in each class then it would be :

Very less

1st - 0 friends (used to eat alone my lunch)
2nd - 1
then got transferred
3rd - 0
4th - 1
5th - 2
transferred again
6th -1
7th - 2
8th - 2
transferred again
9th - 0
10th - 0
11th -1
12th - 3
drop year - 0 (I have just some dead school groups of whatsapp , in the name of what I can show)

My teacher’s only dialogue for me was “He is a good kid but doesn’t used to say anything”,
it is normally said that I am introvert , I say no!!! Just the thing is that I never used to find peoples like me . And yeah it is really hard to speak to others, it’s different than typing without showing your face :slightly_smiling_face: .

And , I used to be math lover but when I first discovered coding and how the person was making a CLI calculator that can add two numbers and give it’s answer , I felt like wow!!
I can make interactive calculator with it . And yeah!! like you I also started the coding journey with C .
Now these days I am not good in math things  . I mean it’s easy to calculate something like 125*25 in your mind in a second (even kids can do), but not easy to apply the type of math that we study in 12th in solving the questions of math .

Well, you have plenty of friends here @Ankur, (even if they are virtual). :hugs:

Ah you sound a lot like me. My father too has a job that transfers every 3-5 years. I too don’t like talking a whole lot. Prefer typing to it. Though my father’s job had nothing to do with it I too don’t have a lot of friends, there are a few but not a lot besides the garuda community.

It seems like we have too much similarities  or maybe the fifth or sixth coincidence .

Yes, use conky.
I cant share, its from March 2021  apart from that, a lot of things have to be adjusted to your own hardware.

It is just conky.

Only Garuda Linux screenshots are allowed. :grimacing:

Don’t mind me just sharing my random 3am nightmares

A while ago my laptop fell out of my bag, my bag has a zip on left side instead of the usual top position and it was left open. The fall was so bad my laptop’s backplate separated and its mother board and its internals were left bare to the world. The screen suffered some damage too. Has a nasty dent up top. Thankfully apart from some minor screen bleeding there have been no problems with the device. I just “crunched” the backplate in place again and everything has been working for over a month. The damage could have been worse on the way when I go from hostel to college I cross road with substantial traffic on it. If it had fallen there
 RIP lappy.

Well fast forward to today I have been thinking of getting the screen fixed for a while but real world has been getting in the way
 grrr
I am still looking for a job. Got to the personal interviews round with 3 companies so far and sadly I was rejected everywhere . Well anyway the stuff’s been on my mind and I had a very weird dream where I finally got my laptop repaired and my repair guy for some reason put M$ $HIT on it
:expressionless:. I was speechless I immediately set out to get garuda back on my lappy but the live ISO won’t boot. :scream: and that’s where the dream ended. I woke up in my bed with my laptop and mobile phone by my side. I checked my lappy and thankfully garuda was still there.

Praying you find the perfect job soon!

Do you know the minimum laptop ram requirements to run off of the live distro? (I have an old lenovo t400 with only 2GB RAM - needs 2.8GB according to the installer to install LXQT - what is the least to get by with running from the live USB OS only?)

I am not sure where this fits into any category - it isn’t really a help request as such lol.

Anyway, hope you find the perfect job for your needs ASAP.

Thanks friend. I really hope so too. regarding your question, the downloads page does say OS needs 4GB of RAM but there is no harm in trying, especially with a light weight DE like LXQT it should work fine, at worse the experience would be laggy.

Why not get a part time job/any job so you can learn study etc?

Don’t push for positions that might need more exp.
Take whatever job that might needs some of your skills.

The modern internet is full of promises (&“lies”) and stories that are not part of your journey. Also, everything that shines isn’t gold.

Take any job that helps someone out, where you can do anything that feels even remotly fullfilling. Don’t imagine you need a “pleasant” job. Its good when you can imagine where you want to be in say ~ 2 years? or 5 years? You might not get there or decide to change course slightly but “goal setting” helps you realise what might be the right direction.

A lot of experiences come in handy later. What skills you have IT, electronics, communication, helping someone out, marketing
 soldering ?

Age old story but getting a job is important!

Thanks. So many lenovo work horses out there and if just running cloud software through the browser, then maybe no need to install the OS on machines lacking RAM. I will try to find some more RAM - it looks like i can reduce RAM usage by disabling systemctl - maybe I could try to set up virtual RAM through and external USB drive?

I loved your dream (nightmare) - employers who don’t know the glories of Linux & FOSS - avoiding their computers so I can run my own OS. When I first installed dr460nized 3-4 years ago, i was still only experienced with MINT, but now there is no going back. Economy (Bidenomics forever wars) has pulled the rug out from under many of us, but I have high hopes for à€à€Ÿà€°à€€à„ doing its traditional Asian regional trade, so guys there should find what you need soon.

Maybe Garuda could allow Leaders to accept ByMeACoffee account donations for users wanting more one-on-one support???

I did actually get an internship, offcampus an unpaid one but still it was my first. Made a full stack (UI+backend) helpdesk ticketing webapp for the company, kinda like jira with slightly less admin features. Apart from that I have been trying to freelance. However, the placement season has arrived, I am in final year of college and companies have started to visit for recruitment. I have been giving a ton of exams, failed a lot, managed to secure PI’s with 3 companies. The first was through a hackathon, a ctf hackathon to be exact with kpmg I managed to completely nuke the oppurtunity
then I sat in an interview with ibm a few weeks ago, again messed up and the interview was actually going good this time
the last one had similar issues. So I am currently working on my interviewing skills, I hopefully will get another one with hsbc, the test gave me the feeling I did quite well.

This seems to be the most important advice about the whole work life. I mean sure, 100k/y is nice but that’s worth nothing if you feel like you absolutely have to force yourself to get up in the morning :eyes:

How does that work out for you so far?

Well I initially joined fiver and upwork but as can be guessed I drowned in the sea of talented and experinced ppl. After that I joined a startup funngro, its platform specifically for ppl in the range of school - uni. So yeah that has been working out fine. Atleast for now, I have a decent profile as a web dev.

I do eventually wanna move towards embedded systems/low level programming, have been taking courses and trying to develop skills for it.

That sounds like it went quite well! “drowned” has a kind of bad connotation, actually, this is something pretty great if you can get some good advice IMO. There is nothing for me to learn about the things I will be dealing with once I’m done with my apprenticeship (DevOps) at my current workplace, which is definitely something I would love to change as soon as possible.
