Only 14gigs after all these pictures and stuff!
I thought it must be more than a TB.
That was a huge overestimation!
You link your wallpaper to GitLab, so you can post 100 per day, please
Oof was it that bad? (the hidden Post)
Gee..
Video context was hindu guru saying "democracy is the government by the people for the people".. "but the people are ****** (fill the blanks)" Its total satire and I got a laugh and people in the comment section seemed to get the joke (could be referenced to moronic populist slogans and political parties).
Short clip.. one would expect that the guru was hinting at the need to be enlightened or something.
However.. Given the folks here I think it isnt the best joke either, is kind of flat, but I guess depends on the context
It may be a cultural thing, but over here in the United States the word "retarded", when used to describe something as stupid or disapproved of, is considered offensive and tasteless.
The main reason for this is prior to being used as an insult, the word was used in a clinical sense to classify people who have cognitive challenges. "Mental retardation" referred to people with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, or developmental delays. Medical professionals used it as a diagnostic label to categorize individuals based on their cognitive abilities.
Over time, the term started to be misused as an insult. It became associated with negative stereotypes and derogatory attitudes toward people with intellectual disabilities. People would say "that's retarded" as a way of expressing disapproval for something, or "you're retarded" as an insult--the unspoken implication being that mentally retarded people are inferior, and being "retarded" is inately bad.
As awareness grew about the harmful impact of this kind of language on individuals and communities, the medical community and society at large moved away from using the term "mental retardation" and adopted more respectful language. Nowadays, even though it's no longer used as a clinical term in any way, it is still considered by a lot of communities to be a form of hate speech because you can't disassociate the term from its origins.
Folks like the guy in the video very likely do not know the storied history this term has--perhaps English is not their first language, and maybe they have only learned the word second-hand from hearing other people use it--but that doesn't really make it less offensive or hurtful.
In my opinion, the video is no more funny than if any other derogotory slur you can imagine had been used instead of "retarded"--which is to say, not that funny.
I know this word from a technical perspective and the opposite is âadvancedâ. It refers to the timing of the spark in a petrol engine.
So there is thatâŚ
My first thought was something violent or racial related in the video⌠but simply a word?
Actually Iâm glad it wasnât that bad.
@aegir221 Well, from a more objective perspective I think the Guru wasnât wrong - well, based on your explaination tho. B/c there is in deed a feedback loop between media and voters, so there is thatâŚ
I got the sentiment interms of history and cultural norms.
What I donât get is âdisassociate from originsâ Usually people do not joke about a person who is in a wheelchair because they see that this person is in a wheel chair. â Its not funny. As well as someone with some mental disabilites⌠Some 10 year old might joke about it , but they loose interest in a day or two.
What people are doing is taking on their buddy or a classmate and saying are you âslow or whatâ to tests them and make fun of them. So - in all these cases the policing is going over the board. People are going poke fun nevertheless.
Encourage âgood cultureâ and " try to be a decent human being" should work just fine.
Your right⌠Its like an oil break for heavy vehicles.
Words really are symbols, people seem to forget that.
If I can avoid causing someone pain just by not saying a word, that seems worth it to me. Being able to grasp this concept requires a fairly trivial amount of compassion for other human beings; lacking that, it is unlikely something that can be explained in an understandable way.
To me it seems like a no-brainer, but for you it seems your priorities areâŚsomething else. To each their own.
I'd draw a line in the sand where there is malicious intent, hostility and being persistently annoying for no reason.
Having realised the unbalanced mindsets that can exist, these types fade to black for lack of a better word. I prefer to stay in my "zen" nowadays if I can help it.
I was just curious if I can figure out what is and isnt wokism.
Agreed. If I call myself a gimp, it may be funny. If you call me a gimp, I may accept it if I think itâs funny. If not, Iâll just count you another tasteless person. Call me a gimp then hit me over the head, and we got problems. See the difference?
We all were taught this saying when I was young: âSticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.â It was so we wouldnât get into fights for stupid reasonsâlike name calling.
I wish folks would just take a step back, shake their heads in disgust, then walk away. Maybe weâd have fewer gun deaths if we all grew a little thicker skin.
HmmâŚ
My brain :

Summary
Donât mind for my bad Joke but by gimp what I first understood was GNU image manipulation
, then I have to search itâs real meaning on internet
Yep, same with me here in Austria. I couldnât care less about those childish stuff. Well you canât even quote certain words, even if you talk about them and not using them. They came up with n-word or r-word and stuff, you feel like back in the days in kindergarden⌠Gee

Probably not the best practice to use another's image and modify it to call it yours...
It's inspired by a very famous design, but I made it from scratch in inkscape.
I never claimed to have invented it, nor I called it mine. But this IS my version of it, and I made it from scratch as you can tell. You won't find anywhere the same exact image.
Even the image you linked is not made by the original author of the design, but is a remade different version, which has been created for the same reasons as mine: better resolution, different style.
You are infringing on a copyrighted image. Whether you âcreated it from scratchâ or not. You copied a famous image to a very large degree.
But to make it even worse, you copied a copy of a copy unless your real name is Matt Kline. Here:

Unless you refer to the original Pink Floyd album artwork as the "famous image" (and, even then, their artwork is also derived from a picture in a science book, which is taken from a natural phenomenon), there is no copyright infringement here. Any image containing the Arch Linux logo inherits its CC-BY-SA license (as per their Trademark Policy ) , so I am free to remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
So far your accusations are based on nothing, and to make it even worse you still keep providing that link as the source of the image, while that link is still a derivative version of an already existing design.
For the sake of simplicity and to avoid giving the impression that it is your own work, we name it here in this thread, Show your artwork, then also with remix.
I see that you have caught up.
I think it turned out great! I appreciate you taking the time to make a high-resolution version. I put it up on a 2560x1440 monitor and it looks awesome. A lot of 1920x1080 wallpapers just don't hold up on big displays like this.
Nice job on the background details as well, the gradients turned out nice. The little scaled-down version on the forum page doesn't do it justice.
Oh yeah, it turned out just great for "original artwork." Copying copies of copies with minute changes...sure, that sounds like open source. But this? Adding a line or two? Original?
How about some actual original artwork? Is that asking too much?
