As just as a little advance notice, the 2026 Garuda Art Contest will be kicking off soon. I’m doubling the prize money to $200 US this year, so let all your artist friends know that the prize money up for grabs is quite substantial.
Chances are that AI created art (or AI augmented art) will not be eligible for the big prize money this time around.
So start getting your creative juices flowing for another great art competition.
To spell this out clearly, the reason RAM has quadrupled in price is that a huge quantity of RAM that hasn’t been produced yet has been bought with money that doesn’t exist to populate GPUs that also haven’t been produced to go in datacenters that haven’t been built powered by infrastructure that may never exist to meet a demand that doesn’t exist at all to make profit margins that mathematically can’t exist while economists talk about this thing they call the “rational markets hypothesis”.
Not sure if anyone here plays Dota 2, but I’ve been building a little helper site at https://dota2.tools. I put together some tools that I find pretty handy—feel free to take a look if you’re into the game!
I did not i just tweeked it, It’s a technique where you convert a normal picture into it. When looking for other copyright free svg city stuff I found a few like this. But I plan this year to learn how to do it to my own photos.
@elite, perhaps you could give @Seimus (and others) a quick run down of the software available in Linux that you and the other distro artists use for creating your art. That way, if anyone is interested in learning, they at least know where to start.
Please reply on the contest thread if you have the time. Much appreciated @elite.
Small glimpse into the state of South Africa, as someone who never ever had DSTV I am so proud to be a lifelong boycotter of one of the worst corporations in RSA. Now Canal+ bought them over.
