New Firedragon version!

I’m missing the Menu bar. I moved the Tabbar to the bottom last night while adjusting settings to my liking, however when I placed the Tabbar on the bottom the Menu bar also moved to the bottom above the Tabbar. This morning I launched Next and no Menu bar at all and I cannot find anything in Next for restoring it muchless putting it back on top with the open, close, maxize buttons. I do not use Global Menu or anything else to move or act as menu bars so my menu bars are on the individual apps.

EDIT:

OK if I hit Alt then it shows above the Tabbar, but it’s only a temp fix.

I noticed this behavior in old Firedragon too, I think it may be a Librewolf/Firefox thing (though I have not tested on Librewolf). It used to be that, like other apps, the menu bar would appear next to the window title in the top panel (when window is maximized, unless you change the setting). It was several old Firedragon updates ago that I noticed it stopped appearing.

Yes known for a long while! It’s FF and GTK apps in Plasma. Very difficult to make this work flawlessly, some GTK apps works, some other don’t and of course FF doesn’t anymore.

It will remain like this until someone a way to add menus for FF or if FF does something for that, not sure which.

May I suggest taking a look at the Waterfox code or maybe ask them what they did cause as you can see from my screenshot the menubar is above the status bar and the menu bar is on top. I’m still going to finish setting up next and run it through it’s paces cause having to hit Alt to get the menu bar isn’t a deal breaker.

What screenshot?

Oh crap, sorry give me a second. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

They have the Titlebar integrated, which is an available option already.
Then maybe they just click on this

to enable the menu bar next to the Window Buttons.

Which is where it should be but isn’t. Like I said I can live with it. I can’t speak for others but I honestly don’t use it that often.

I have it located like this, is this wrong for you?

Quick update I’ve been using FD daily an have had no issues. Everything feels solid. Though I don’t make web apps or anything like that.

As for the menu bar normally it pops up when you hit “alt” but I am using the kde title bar since the other is normally on the wrong side or looks to much like windows 10 close minimize maximize.

*Would normally be at the top if i had the address bar up there .

Yes the ALT shortcut is a pretty fast and clean alternative.
Personally I love it cuz the menu isn’t taking space for nothing most of the time.
Whereas the Tabs and URL bar I require all the time.

I hope one day the Firefox team brings it back to the global menu (kde). As I am one of those hamburger menu deniers ha. But I rarely use either menu that often anymore.

We’ll see what Plasma 6 brings in, SO many things are changing (front and back ends) in Plasma 6, maybe it will be easier to have the menu in the Plasma Top Panel.

I still got hope, whether that’s stupid or not.

This is fantastic !! I’ve heard that Floorp is a great Firefox variant, and this looks even better. Congrats to the team for this and I look forward to it.

Out of curiosity, anyone happen to have a copy of the old firedragon app icon (I think it was called avatar or something like that)? As much as the new one is cool, it kinda breaks the gradient pattern I had in the arrangement of apps on my taskbar lol.

This?

Yep that’s it. I had tried digging through the repository to find it, but it wasn’t anywhere I checked (or at least, not in the proper file format and/or was low resolution). Thanks!

I’ve been using Floorp for a little while, so now that Firedragon is based on Floorp, I’ll be using that in my Garuda env! Can’t say how happy I am that this move was made! Bravo team!!
