Linux & Tech news šŸ“°

I watched that one last night it was really interesting learning about lutris.

The good news, the developer has completed his other contracts and is going to devote himself to Lutris full-time in the next four months for development. Hopefully we will see some more goodies. I just love Lutris. I get about all my games working, some with a little more finagling than others.

Yeah, I was excited to here they are trying to make a controller supported "console" style interface. So it will be neat to see which looks/works better that or steam os when they roll out their new ui.

Here is a nifty little app for the holidays...to dress up your desktop in animated snow, santas, trains, bears....empty beer cans (wishlist) and more. You can find it in AUR as 'xsnow-bin.'

that kinda gives me nightmares of those virus filled things my mom would install on her Windows computers before I wiped it and forced her to use Linux, so she would stop downloading crap like that and then complaining about her pc being slow.

Right? My IT days, the users with these things or the post-it apps with hidden viruses made me one want to open my window and jump from the fourth floor. They had to talk me down a few times.

what was funny is she would blame her pc running like crap on her husband watching porn(and it could have been part of the issue too) but more offten than not is was the stupid crap like a unicorn folloing her mouse or the stupid smiley face that said woohoo.

Wayland support when?

From what I have read, it works with wayland, all the features except the snow piles on the window frames.

Ah yes, I remember Session being coined at some point as an even more privacy friendly version of Signal, but after that it went rather quiet. I'll give it another spin.

That's a real serious bug.

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. said it saw more than 100,000 attempts to exploit the bugā€”about half of which it estimated were from malicious cyberattackers.

Ewwwwā€¦this is not good. Malware for Linux.

The extensive PDF that ESET researchers published details the ways in which the malware works. Once the system is infected, in addition to collecting personal information, such as the history of commands, sshd credentials, it loads backdoors and rootkit modules, to make the system available to the attacker.

The good thing is I am sure like with most Linux vulnerabilities unlike windows it will probably get patched in a timely manner instead of having to hope some bloatware app is going to catch it like on Windows.
