But but but, why not just change Fedora/Red Hat’s names to simply LennartOS?

You mean Gnome/LennartOS ?

I mean…it would be totally cool for them to have Gnome/LennartOS, if all that sosytemd crap wasn’t enforced universally on whole Linux ecosystem, outside of couple outliars…

The Linux Mint April update goes on to note:

"libAdwaita is for GNOME and GNOME only. We can’t blame GNOME for this, they’ve been very clear about it from the start. It was made specifically for GNOME to have more freedom and build its own ecosystem without impacting GTK.

We want to send a strong signal upstream and towards other projects. We cannot and will not support applications which do not support our users and environments.

We can’t promote applications to our users which don’t support our users. The software manager will be vigilant towards that going forward and list compatible software by default."

Someone said the quiet part out loud and it’s about time.

Many said it before, but almost nobody did anything about it…Mint is really great on action part!
I hope it will become a movement! :joy:
:penguin:

P.S. I also love Mint on sending similar signal to Ubuntu by creating LMDE and getting ready to fully drop their upstream crap.

Regarding windoze 11, how can I stop updating something I’ve never started updating, since I don’t use it?

Regarding Linux Mint, I have massive respect for them because of how they treat Snaps. Mint is, beyond any doubt, the best distro when it comes to Snaps. I just love that project, even if I don’t use it myself.

Just

I mean look at Ubuntu mate it’s basically a dead project at this point since it’s nearly a mirror image of Ubuntu. I mean, even look at cosmic

The best part of gnome wanting a cohesive UI for Linux. is it’s just given birth to fragmentation. due to a lot of their nonsense.

Yeah COSMIC isn’t going to have nearly the amount of customization I was hoping for, but it’ll still have some cool features (per display workspaces, panels showing on all displays). Lowkey hoping Garuda takes a nab at the COSMIC DE. We’ll see.

Regarding the mint stuff, funny, on phoronix forums, seems its more fragmentation caused by everyone EXCEPT gnome!

about snaps… dunno… they started badly but last time I tried them, worked really well and really fast (being more similar to native, while flatpak was more than double the startup time).

also, snaps are great for servers.

just… saying…I personally don’t like both (snaps and flatpaks)
