ATTENTION PLASMA WIDGET, THEME AND ADD-ON DEVELOPERS:
KDE loves all your stuff, but you need to port it for it to work in #Plasma6. We have created a handy, easy-to-follow guide for extensions and widgets at
Theme developers, please check out this:
Porting is quite straightforward and should not take you long.
Keep your users happy! Port your stuff!
There should be more people inventing new words, like Twix, to make things easier to distinguish
Warp is (currently) closed-source.
Remember the transition from Plasma 4 to 5? It took a bit to accomplish. Nothing ever goes as smoothly as planned. “The first casualty of any battle is the plan of attack.”
Oh well, I suppose we’ve asked for it – We Run Linux
Closed source terminal with AI which is needed to be connected with internet always = garbage + God of spywares + whoever downloads is a stupid!!!
I think “4 to 5” made a lot more breaking changes which now make 5 to 6 easier.
Like a lot of modularization in kde frameworks for example. It was a bold move back then but definitely needed.
great future ahead for me as a KDE afficionado
You may be right. Or not. I’ve been around for every KDE transition. All of 'em.
None of them have been painless.
But we must like it 'cause like I said…
We Run Linux©
Some of us just aren’t paranoid and use what we find makes our lives easier. People use Microsoft Edge not for privacy but often for the synchronisation across devices especially if you are restricted by your job and your software allowed. So calling people stupid for that is pretty stupid from yourself tbh
Jeeeeze…did he kick you in the shins or something?
Nah I just don’t like it when people call others stupid for making different decisions than themselves but hey maybe I’m too sensitive haha
The developers plan to open source the UI framework for Warp once they are done testing it on the various platforms. I highly suggest you keep an eye out on the GitHub repo for more updates regarding that.
Heya!!!
It was just said for fun in sarcasm, not for demeaning anyone
I just wanted to say an AI integrated terminal which is needed to be kept connected to internet and it is closed source is a very suspicious software because you do all root user tasks through terminal, so whatever terminal emulator you are using should be transparent, technically just think of it that your root passwd is what in which your life is , what if the AI in built in it will copy that passwd and then in background through that root passwd he does some malicious things, because if you know root passwd of a linux system then you have all of it’s authority and this is how ideally a linux system should be
And now you can imagine any one can get extremely private info about you through which he can do any thing with you
Plus point, I didn’t read this
And another thing, yeah I am paranoid
at least in the case of what terminal I would use
I don’t think you’re being paranoid at all. The fact it isn’t open source alone is enough for me to never use it. Requiring registration and an account with full time internet access is expecting far too much from an app that traditionally never requires this. Far too intrusive IMO, never going to happen.
He is right! The kde 5 → 6 transition is nothing like the 3 → 4 or the 4 → 5.
Its completely smooth! (at least in my usage, and I do have a fairly complex usage! (wayland, multiple monitors, activities, lots of customization (not themes)))

Hmm
It seems they have no intention to open their code.
It will probably go flop among linux users…
Let’s hope so. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
