First thing I know that it’s just an agreement for at least now and for someone who is not too much geek like you are , getting these news will only make their minds to say that we need a change (as facebook (meta) is synonymous to privacy threat ), and maybe they will get hates from those people who haven’t understood it properly .
They are doing like ubuntu ,
ubuntu is also not bad , it is still beginner’s place for new linux users, but the way of representation of some of their things (you know what do I mean) is not good enough so they have to face hates .
I am not forcing you to use brave (and will never be able to ) ,it’s my choice according to my needs , you can continue with firefox as there is still no change in source code and if there is then there can be an option of disabling it , like that of telemetry(you know it better

There can be an interesting discussion on whether bats spread corona or china did this 
there can also be many opinions like maybe this is a virus which was trapped in polar ice bergs and due to global warming it escaped away and now it had evolved to affect humans… and many more opinions . Just I would like to say that I am tired of wearing mask for 8 hours of 7 hours a day , I have to wear it even when I am riding my cycle 
and that’s suffocating and the bad thing is that vaccines are now available for people under 18 and I am fully vaccinated but still have to wear mask ?
