Yeah, the default Windows explorer felt like beta software at best. I started using Total Commander, and at some point the heavily tweaked Ultra Prime edition (which actually seems to still exist after all those years: Download - Total Commander Ultima Prime). For me it was mostly about having a keyboard focused file manager, although I loved the (S)FTP plugin as well. Back when I was still young and foolish I used to copy PHP files from server to server that way. Which inevitably meant I used to break things, but at least I felt empowered
