That is odd and not supposed to happen that way.
I personally cannot help much on why it behaved like this.
When you added the top bar and bottom dock where they “garuda-nized” with garuda icons? Or more like default KDE?

It looks almost identical to the Latte version.
I.e. Dragon "Start" icon in top panel, those
candy colored icons in the dock. Blurry
transparency on both. Is that what you mean?
Here it is:
Here is the Start menu:
Was this icon showing as soon as you "added" the bottom dock manually?
The panel/dock do look all fine, including the Start menu.
BTW very very nice wallaper, mind sharing an URL to that?
Hi There. Interested bystander here. I installed "dragonized-next" package on a spare laptop. Works well and i managed to make it almost look like Latte, which I like and will actually miss.
I made the top left panel the same - Good. But i struggled to make the Meta Key open the Application Menu. In the end I used ksuperkey and it works fine now,
I made the top right panel the same - Good. Only thing I need to work on now is making the Month and Year font Blue........I know!!
The Icon Only Taskbar looks nearly the same and that is really the point of this post. Can we please have a look at making the Icon Only Taskbar transparent, like Latte.
Additionally, can we also look at 30% Zoom on Hover. This is the same as Latte and looks very good.
Keep up the good work.
There are many posts up above in this thread about this feature. It’s better you read all the options yourself, but in a nutshell, this is not fully supported natively by Plasma without affecting something else. But it exists. It also exists using a 3rd party widget, but it does not make opaque on maximized windows or windows touching panel/dock.
Not possible by Plasma standards. KDE devs have not implemented such feature.
However they have implemented, on my request cuz I could not accept the annoying “faint glow on hover” loll, a “launcher-hover” element in the tasks.svgz, but this will only be available starting with 5.27 I believe. It is available on kde-git if you want to try.
There are no bouncing, zooming and stuff like that possible.
But I like bouncing, zooming and stuff.....
Yup, you're not alone.
I loved it too but after using the new launcher-hover feature I quickly got used to it and love it more.
However if you really want such feature you can ask KDE devs on bugs.kde.org. There are no other options at the moment...
Hmm, about this… I’ve been using the Window Buttons widget and it can be configured to act like the old window buttons applet (only show when there is an active and/or maximised window). It works really well - my only gripe is that the size of the buttons can’t be adjusted manually, so they’re a bit small on my panel.
oh nvm I just figured out how to edit the size lol, need untick the metrics ‘use from decoration if they are found’ box and change the size percentage.
Ooh what’s this feature? I tried a bit of searching but either my search skills suck or I’ve been using it unawares
Great to hear that the devs will be doing something about that abysmal white glow effect!
I also miss the old Latte animations but they were a bit of a double-edged sword. They made it seem laggy, lol. The new panels without animations feel so snappy
You are using Window Buttons to replace Window Buttons? That’s what I read here.
This one 462253 – Icons-Only Task Manager "glow icons on mouse hover for closed applications" alternatives
It will not remove the white glow, it will overlay whatever else you do with your SVG. Still it’s better than just having the darn white glow. loll
I tested quickly by editing an SVG and it did this:
But this is what I asked to do, a rounded edge violet frame. It can be quite different depending on how you modify the SVG.
That’s mostly why I now prefer Plasma. Latte’s animations sometimes made it less fluent and fluid. Plasma is quick and instant and also launches quicker on log in.
But you tidy-locked to the fact the Panel is integrated in Plasma Style framework, therefore when you perform some changes on one, they apply for the other as well, although sometimes you would not want that. Nothing’s perfect.
Hello FGD,
Sorry for the late reply.
If I recall correctly, the dock defaulted to the well, the default one.
Garuda Welcome on the left, Octopi on the right and Snapper,
Dolphin, FireDragon and System Monitor in the middle.
Glad you like my wallpaper. I added it through the KDE Desktop
wallpaper dialog and filtered to Abstract.

Lots of nice ones in there. o7
There's a silver lining. 2 actually.
There's also DockX, just to throw that info out
You mean DockBarX?

Here are 10 Docks other than Plasma Panel. 10 Best Free Linux Docks (fossmint.com)
Most docks are for Ubuntu/Gnome it's harder to find a good list for Plasma only.
Can Garuda do anything with them?
Here's my opinion:
I think only 1 out of the 10 is worth installating and testing, based on the info I know about it and could find so far.

There we go, 5.27 is now in Beta form!
Feb 14th will be the release in Production, so I guess Feb 15th or 16th available in the repos for us to update and.... break Latte.
Don't forget to switch docks before Feb 14th!
This is a rolling release distro afterall, we don't have 6 months to look into it before switching. lolll
HAHAHA I didn’t realise they were the same thing at the time because I didn’t double check the author smooth brain mistake
It doesn’t seem to be broken though, unless I’m just lucky…?
Switch before Valentines though… Latte will be sad
LOLL Australian heat is getting through your brain!
You are probably not running kde-git or 5.26.90.
Since you mentioned that I enabled it. Works very fine for me with 5.26 every day and seems to make some window effects smoother (like kwin-burning-effects package or something like that), although hard to notice. Did not notice latency issues.
But this may interest you, it’s part of 5.27:
As well as the launcher-hover feature I mentioned above.
I have to switch before feb 14? Can you explain will it just replace my latte or do I have to reset my configs in garuda manager or something?
Nothing forces you to do it. But…:
Expected behavior of not switching away from Latte-Dock before Plasma 5.27 is updated on an existing system - as of Jan 20th:
Unless Dragonfire changes mind radically, the “replacement” will not be forcibly pushed through the existing systems. He is still looking at how to warn users before that cut-off date, so they can follow the short steps to replace Latte themselves.
Again unless Dragonfire changes how it will work, once you have the package garuda-dr460nized-next
installed, you only need to apply Dr460nized Global Theme in System Settings>Appearance.
And from there you tweak the dock and top bar the way you like with your launchers, placement on screen, etc.
I'll need to make ya co-maintainer of Dr460nized @FGD
been running with garuda-dr460nized-next
for nearly a week now, honestly I think I prefer it over latte-dock, which would crash once a week or so, I did have to manually change my theme and add the panels
