Installing Garuda over Ubuntu with DualBoot Windows

Hi there.

I have a laptop with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 installed.

I want to replace Ubuntu by Garuda but have some doubts.

My partitions are:

/dev/nvme0n1p1   511M  EFI System (holds both MS Windows and Ubuntu)
/dev/nvme0n1p2   21,4M Microsoft Reserved
/dev/nvme0n1p3   59,1G Microsoft Windows 10
/dev/nvme0n1p4   979M  Microsoft Basic Data Reserved
/dev/nvme0n1p5   621M  Linux Ext4  /boot
/dev/nvme0n1p6   58G   Linux Ext4  / (root - Ubuntu 20.04)

/dev/sda1    138,6G  Microsoft partition with  /Users
/dev/sda2    15,3G   Microsoft Basic Data Reserved
/dev/sda3    752,2G  Linux Ext4   /home
/dev/sda4    25,4G   Linux Ext4   /var

I use swap file (Linux Add a Swap File Tutorial - nixCraft) and not a dedicated swap partition.

How does Garuda btrfs works with this? I wouldn't like to reformat all Linux partitions, specially the /home one. And I really need to have MS Windows 10 working for certain work related apps.

Save your needed data from /home on ext. SSD/HDD
you can’t use your ubuntu home for garuda.

nur meine sicht der dinge

weiß nicht hast du eine 128gb nvme und 1tb hdd auf deinem laptop

ich finde vermischen der systeme nicht so gut
und auch nicht auslagern der userpartitionen
weil so wie ich annehme nicht genügend platz auf der nvme

ich würde erstmal deinen speicher erweitern
wollen

hier mein system

512gb garuda nvme
1tb daten für nicht gekopppelte daten reiner speicher für windows und linux gleichermaßen
hauptsächlich für music photos etc

das alles ist intern

windows lade ich extern über usb 3.1gen type c
mit einer externen ssd aber eigentlich nutze ich windows nur zum ausprobieren um anderen zu helfen wie programme installieren und so ansonsten kann ich alles was für mich nötig ist mit garuda machen

just my view of things

don't know if you have a 128gb nvme and 1tb hdd on your laptop

i think mixing the systems is not so good
and also not swapping the user partitions
because as i assume not enough space on the nvme

i would first expand your memory

here is my system

512gb garuda nvme
1tb data for uncoupled data pure storage for windows and linux alike
mainly for music photos etc

all this is internal

windows i load externally via usb 3.1gen type c
with an external ssd but actually i use windows only to try it out to help others like install programs and such otherwise i can do everything what is needed for me with garuda
