i think if i manually setup the partitions i will be able to install hyprland… but then the network manager stop recognizing networks.
i’ve been trying to install hyprland for some hours now so i have some ideas (i wont be able to post the results as i cant connect to network after rebooting)
does linux-firmware recognize my network device? ill try to sudo systemctl start NetworkManager.service
there is ‘linux-firmware-asus’ and ‘linux-firmware-git’ ill try one at a time and seet if one of those does any good
and lastly ill try some iwlwifi aur packages to see if they fix anything

i cant screenshot in the installation media but now i can only do a manual partitioning.

regarding network issues ill paste some terminal output (before installing hyprland):

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

This might be a recently closed kernel regression:

Due to

wifi: iwlwifi: disable 160 MHz based on subsystem device ID

The driver should not send 160 MHz BW support for 5 GHz
band in HE if PCI subsystem device ID indicates no 160 MHz support.

In my opinion you should try, using tethering with a mobile phone, to:

  • fully update your system (so including kernel and firmware) and install the LTS and mainline kernels
garuda-update linux-lts linux-lts-headers linux-mainline linux-mainline-headers
  • test all the kernels selecting them each time in the GRUB

  • bios update and pls think on the relevant entries inside bios (f-boot + secure-b), then
    ASUS Vivobook 15 (X1504) - Support

  • you have dualboot → disable hibernation + fastboot inside M$ + only cold start inside linux then.

Welcome to the forum @brianmatozo :waving_hand:

Changing Iwlwifi driver options (parameters) is the most likely fix for Intel WiFi adapters.

Hi! sorry for the abstract post, i was really tired at that time.. really liking hyprland so far!

yes! for me switching to LTS fixed the network issues

I’ll need to install windows to update the bios :frowning: . not really sure if the update will last trough the switch, i will try tho

i havent tried this yet as switching to lts fixed the issue, but ill keep this in mind ty!!

no… open the site…and scroll down ..
you can “read” BIOS for ASUS EZ Flash Utility

Hi and Welcome,

lol would write the same as @gampel . i can update my bios over the bios when you put the update file on a flash drive and start it over the bios ez update?upgrade tool;)

Asus is not Acer

did i overread something? i did not wrote acer? i was on the asus website and i have asus too.

Since some models are not able to update BIOS in Windows, this article will introduce how to update BIOS in BIOS Utility.

on my asus mainboard i have a button i can press to flash a new bios even with no other hardware only power supply but is not on a laptop .

Only typing..acer.. have only default bios update over M$. Almost all others offer several options. Alphabet thinking..sorry.

Because of his inxi I thought M$ is installed.

ah i got it yeah acer is very shitti i would say had problems on a acer pc to install hypr or even kde or mokka to it because there is some missing usb support in the isos or whatever

one last question.. can i use Wine to install drivers from the asus page?

I strongly advise against this, they are all windows drivers and do not work on Linux.
