Image Freezes

Hi,

Relating to this topic https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/image-frozen-on-main-monitor/43543?u=bautegg

I’m still having issue described in above topic. Right now problems occurs on secondary monitor (HP) when using Wayland.

What different steps than taken in linked topic I can take?

So far few hours, and no freez, I will keep you updated guys

After 6 days ..the issue is back ?
Pls consider you stay on wayland not X11.
Test only with one Monitor (AOC). (disconnect hp, reboot)
Konsole: xrandr = ? You use real 144hz + max resolution ?
Adaptive sync could be your issue inside wayland. (to fix this: hardware /plasma /wayland → i don’t know)
You use the hardware presets from your monitor (fps, racing etc) or settings inside
your DE ?
Do you use nvidia-settings ? (real function only inside X11, my mind)

Problem were occurring on previous drivers version 565.77, and occurred today after upgrading to 570.144

Nvidia ver 565.77 for you was the beginning ? With previous version was all fine if i understand it right ?

My result, stay on X11, if incoming new version for nvidia stuff, you can test this inside wayland. But if X11 running well, why wayland ? Kde / plasma ↔ wayland are not so good “friends”. (my mind)

I will not write another thread if I didn’t tried these steps. Problem still occurs.

@gampel

Staying on X11 is a partial solution, but it’s much less responsive than Wayland and as Wayland is still developing I think it’s worth to use it and report potential issues.

Problem were occuring on both nvidia drivers versions, and older (hard to say which exactly).

About AOC monitor settings - G-Sync: ON, Low Lag Input: ON, HDR: HDR Game. Do you think one of them could be an issue?

Perhaps or perhaps not. You run your system with 2 monitors and one gpu.
Do you have tested only with one Monitor (AOC) and all dp ports + hdmi port
Result ? No issues on x11/wayland → all fine.
The same with HP Monitor → result ? → all fine
→ then you know the monitors and the cables are not faulty.
Now “testing” with both monitors.
GPU - you have 3 dp ports and 1x hdmi …perhaps there could be the prob
Test with all possibilities → result = ?
Also possible are problems with nvidia ↔ wayland.
You describe it with Only video is freezed, not system

It will be hard for me to test it only with one monitor. On daily basis I need both. What I observed yesterday, HP monitor freezed (I saw it because charts in suystem monitor stoped moving), AOC was still running. After moving cursor to HP monitor, cursor just disappeared or stuck between two monitors. After that AOC monitor freezed, I was not able to get cursor back and clicking meta key on keybord was giving no response.
