Almost all Arch distros cause an issue that doesn’t exist in any Linux distro outside of Arch.
The Arch 8169 driver seems to be sensitive - or is causing a sensitivity - to how traffic is handled through the various networks: maybe that’s intentional; maybe it’s something else.
There’s only one Arch distro I’ve come across that doesn’t do it and it’s not Garuda: so I’m currently on that.
Alternatively I could upgrade a 2012-based PC not really destined for Arch-based requirements anyway.
There is a solution, although it still persists in a far lesser capacity in relation to the runtime steam client: set a limit in the download section to 90% of your bandwidth. The problem then just disappears.
