is there a way to garuda linux without a usb or cd?
You need a boot device to install any OS...
USB sticks are super cheap nowadays
Unless you create a new boot partition on your hard drive, but that wouldn't be worth the hassles IMO
Yes, you'll want a USB storage device anyways.
That is because its worth keeping the Garuda installation media around after install just in case you need it for recovery options (if a Snapper snapshot isn't enough).
I personally have never had problems other than user error that I have learned how to fix from the awesome staff.I hope you'll stay with us and grow because I know that's what I'm doing! I love it.
oh yeah, im planning on going with garuda linux once i get one of those sticks or flash drives.
seems pretty simple to use and i hear good things about it.
i was heavily against other distros cause of what i heard.
but, this one has a good reputation. i like that.
how is gaming performance on here?
I have a switch and don't play games here, but this is gamer friendly.
please go read the home page for full infomation.
Gaming is very smooth. You can get the same performance on Manjaro or other platforms but it's much easier to setup here.
From all the feedback I've seen, people keep distro-hopping and keep going back to Garuda. I've rarely seen Garuda users moving away. So you're in a good place I think.
Personally something I like about Linux gaming is that I can keep full-screen games on and Meta+Tab into a different activity; something you can't do in Windows.
i saw lots of interesting features you can do on hered. seems very cool.
Please, no promotion links.
is this bunch of dvds worth using for adding linux distros like garuda and games adding too?
No don't burn it to CDs, Arch-based linux updates all the time. Even the USB key, it's recommended to update it regularly. Plus, everything gets installed via the pacman package manager, not via CDs.
As an update on video issues, it's still not solved (for me), and I confirm that it's 100% a zen-kernel issue.
Switching to another kernel like xanmod-lts
solves everything. Garuda makes it super easy to install new kernels that can be selected at boot-time.
Same. I had to give it a break though. I never played Oblivion, so I am deep into it now, heavily modded so it resembles Skyrim in graphics and feel, etc. and of course to overcome the default leveling nightmare of the game. It is a good alternative if you need a break.
Why waste time with old games like Skyrim?
Much better Diablo II mods like Path of Diablo; beats modern games like Path of Exile (IMO) and Diablo 2 Remastered (I won't even count Diablo 3). Unfortunately the last ladder reset was 1.6 years ago, but next patch is promising. That's the best time-waster!
Because Skyrim is the greatest game ever made lol. And itβs still modern with overhaul mods and full new mod dlcs and stuff
Played oblivion and enjoyed it but got stuck at something stupid and got annoyed so never beat it. Was good fun though other than that annoying ass kid
I'm more of a Zaxxon kind of guy.
Good old Sega games
skyrim si fun for sure.
Also chiming in here to say that so far I love using Garuda
Gaming wise, games seems to run better than on windows for me (warframe, league of legends, counter strike), didn't encounter any bugs yet (apart from minor kde stuff that isn't really that related to garuda particularly)
Overall really appreciate the work people put into this, and also appreciate the intuitive forum and quick replies on it!
Not sure where you live but if a person asked me for a USB drive to install linux I would give him one. Feel free to ask some friends.
I've tried most major distros. After garuda I tried a few more like Endeavour for a bit on another laptop. I think i will re-install that one in a year or so. Garuda is the best distro I have found.
