Help installing garuda

I have been looking for a new os for my system for a while, I found garuda and thought it looked fine, but I just can’t install it! when I penboot my PC, it enters in a boot loop, be it with open source drivers or with the drivers for Nvidia (my GPU is a 1080 ti).
I already tried changing the por the penboot was and even changed to my integrated GPU, but nothing works, the closest I got was using open source boot, because it made the logo of the garuda appear for a brief second, but then it rebooted again, going before the opening and appearing the options to boot.
Can someone please explain why this happens? the same occurred when I tried using endeavouros.

First welcome aboard. Now it sounds like you can’t even get to the live desktop for Garuda so could you please list your hardware? Let us know what program you used to create your boot media? And lastly from me please let us know which version of Garuda you are trying to install and the date of the ISO file? Thanks

I have a Ryzen 5 4600g, a A520M-PRO motherboard, 8 gb of ram, and as said, a GTX 1080 ti, I created the boot USB via my phone because the thing that happend with endeavourOS, and downloaded the newest version of the catppuccino that was on the official site.
I tried the same iso on a VM on another computer and it worked just fine

Have you tried creating one using Ventoy? That is the usual recommendation for a smooth live boot.

Heya, can you try to write the ISO files without using your phone?

Follow these instructions:

I’ll try it tomorrow, I only have one pendrive and one computer here, so it’ll take some time to update yall

not really, couldn’t use it because of the situation of the computer

I did as the tutorial said, it’s normal for the boot be stuck on the “starting DBus interface for snapper”? Like, nothing else happens, not even the little underbar blinking

alright, I rebooted to try again and it again froze at the “DBus interface for snapper”, always when it starts it freezes, also, update, the iso I’m using it’s the “zen 251002” of mokka

Have you tried both the free and nonfree options?

yup, the screen resized but now it’stuck with the underbar on the top of the screen

tried it again and just rebooted back to ventoy

Great, so you managed to boot in? Can you run garuda-diag and send us the link so we can debug?

In a terminal.

You said you’re getting into the live system, right?

no, there was a bit of misinterpretation on my part, it got to the underbar on top and everything froze again, sorry for the mistake

it could have to do with the new automatic search after your hardware build into the installer where the problem may lay. For i could not use the newest versions of Garuda ISO on my laptop, which has a GTX 2060 on it any longer, though it work fine for my RTX 4080 gaming computer, after the May distribution this year. So i used the older Garuda live installer, for the one dated 05-08-2025 worked fine for my laptop.

So maybe try that ISO build instead and see if that makes a difference.

:waving_hand:

tried doing that, but the version that I downloaded just gave a black screen when trying to pen boot, not even appearing the option to boot with the open source or proprietary drivers

How did you install the ISO on the pendrive, did you use Ventoy, or another program? Did you turn secure boot off? Could your computer find the pen drive? Or did it not even boot into the grub menu? If it did not boot in the grub menu have you tried using Refind to boot your pen drive into grub. i have been forced at times in the past to it boot into grub that way.

#to install refind
sudo pacman -S refind
#to make it the boot menu
sudo refind-install

#run garuda-boot if you want to undo refind as first boot menu, and select grub again.
