Upgrade existing install to "Raptor"
I'm sorry for asking this again as I know you don't tolerate idiots on here however, are you planning an upgrade for an existing install from "Talon" to "Raptor"
Clean installs work perfectly for me but I have a lot of programs on my main computer and I don't fancy a re-install.
An upgrade would be brilliant.
I do have two Laptops with "Raptor" on and its very impressive. I suppose I want "Raptor" onmmy my PC without the pain of a re-install.
All of the new features can be implemented manually on an existing installation, if that is what you mean.
If there is something in the changelog you wish to implement but you are having trouble figuring out how to do it, open a new topic and someone can help you.
Congratulations on the new launch! It's been a blast watching this develop, from following some of the Dracut thread to following the Plasma panels dev thread.
Ik I'm a bit late to the party haha ^^; but I was testing out migrating my existing system to Dracut. So far so good ^^ I think it's lowered my boot time but that might just be placebo haha. Keen to not face issues with broken AUR packages causing boot problems
Funnily enough, the only time I've had issues with Dracut was with Fedora, and I had to read Enable SysAdmin docs from RedHat to fix it. So... does migrating to Dracut make us sysadmins? Is the whole of the Arch Wiki actually something that makes us sysadmins? Wait... if we're Linux users, are we already our own sysadmins?
(sorry, late night dumbo thoughts there LOL)
Garuda is a relatively new Arch-based Linux distribution that will soon be three years old. One thing is for sure, though: it will not leave anyone indifferent. Youāll either fall in love with it or reject it right away. There is no middle ground.
āArch for human beingsā is the simplest way I can describe Garuda. But, of course, with the obligatory qualifier, plus added dragon breath and a waterfall of colors. But please, donāt think this is another Linux distro with a changed wallpaper and icon theme. No, weāre talking about a piece of art, high professionalism, and attention to every detail.
OK, thanks. I figured out some of them but there is a list.............
I'll have another look.
Its not so bad but I have some automatic downloads via Sonarr and NZBGet. When i set them up I had a headache for at least a week.
I must say thank you to all the community members who have posted reviews on the new Garuda Raptor release. The reviews I have watched and read regarding the new Raptor release have all been overflowing with outstandingly positive assesments of the teams latest work. Congrats to everyone involved in the development of Garuda Raptor for putting together the best Garuda editions we've seen to date.
Thanks Locutus.
Its not the programs that give trouble its the setup. I'm happy with the way they work but I struggled to set them up. I've done a backup of both setups so ,maybe it will be easier next time.
Oh man I am so proud of the reviews I start to see here and there!
This guy says he usually gets rid of Latte-Dock, due to high RAM resources used by it and really appreciates the fact Garuda moved away from it.
Also he's LOVES the new Wallpaper!!
Wish they wouldn't have just showed off the installation media in a VM though...
Very odd choice to make a choppy looking video with that.
(wow... only 2GB of RAM in that VM... no wonder, running a VM itself is an is an odd choice to make a video with even)
The problem with cairo-dock in my opinion is that it was updated the last time in july 2020, and also looking into their launchpad bug reporting site, the last fixed issue was more than two years ago.
It can be used for sure, but this doesn't seem reliable enough to become our standard.
