Garuda KDE Ryzen 3500 issues?

Personally, I'm not looking to get into a pissing match. You do not need to post links as it is now quite clear you have thoughly researched your issue.

Requesting links is simply a way to ensure a user has done some research on their own. When a new user opens a post we have no way of knowing if they have researched their issue at all, or they've performed an exhaustive search.

The other problem is this criteria is very subjective. Some users think searching for 15-30 minutes is an exhaustive search (seriously). We simply use certain methods to see what type of user we are dealing with.

I in no way considered my opening post rude, although I did consider your response argumentative. Balking at mods suggestions is not a good start on any forum, (just sayin).

I also asked you to post your full inxi output on my opening post. Users that balk at those requests also tend to tick forum volunteers off. So, this being a two ways street, you can possibly see how both have contributed to friction here not just one party.

However, while you may not like this remark I will say the following. As it was you that was the one requesting assistance on our forum it is incumbent upon the user to be extra tactful and polite if they desire assistance. This does not give forum staff carte blanche to be rude, but the onus is on the user to be polite cooperative, and corteous with forum volunteers if they want assistance.

Sorry if you feel I attacked you in any way as that was not my intention. My intent was merely to point out how this forum works, and what is expected from users on our forum.

I do not in anyway place blame on a single party, I am able to stand up and say when I am wrong or when I have done wrong - and in this case I took offense (possibly unexpectedly) to your first request to search and therefore it was not my intent to come off in a negative manner but after re-reading I can see how it was taken as such - so forgive my brash answers - I can move past it if you are able.

Having that out of the way - I have to go and look up the request you asked for as I am not familiar with it nor it’s output - I don’t need you to explain it nor give me syntax I just need some time to go learn about it.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond and I also do not wish to get into a pissing match. I do disagree with some of the statements with expectation of behavior - but I do appreciate the explanation.

Thank you. That is a nice response. Let's move on.

I wish you both well in resolving your issue.

I’ll be interested as well.
I have a Lenovo laptop with similar specs, but since neither of you two have posted an inxi report of your machines, I can’t know how far we have same specs.
I have been using pure Arch for several months with no show-stopper issues.
You have to provide objective info about your issues, inxi, journalctl, Xorg` logs, to start looking for a solution.

inxi -Fxxxaz
journalctl -p3 --no-pager --no-hostname
systemctl --failed
mhwd -li
pacman -Qs intel\|radeon\|amd\|nvidia
bash -c 'for Xconf in $(ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*.conf); do echo -e "\n" $Xconf ; cat $Xconf ; done'
bash -c 'for Xconf in $(ls /etc/modules-load.d/*.conf); do echo -e "\n" $Xconf ; cat $Xconf ; done'
bash -c 'for Xconf in $(ls /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf); do echo -e "\n" $Xconf ; cat $Xconf ; done'
bash -c 'for Xlog in $(ls /var/log/Xorg.?.log); do echo -e "\n" $Xlog ; grep -E "(EE)|(WW)|failed|Time" $Xlog ; done'

Since there is a difference between ISO system and installed, maybe provide the above for both cases (ISO and installed system).

@petsam is one of the best graphics troubleshooters you will find on any Linux forum. I highly suggest you both provide him your full system specs via the inxi -Fxxxza command.

Petsam is not a native English speaker and he relies on a translator to provide assistance. I have always found @petsam an awesome person to interact with. However, Greek to English online translators often return translations that are way off base. So, if you took offense at my posts you may find his oft mistranslated responses far worse. I am only saying this in advance so that you realize language issues often complicate providing assistance.

Good luck to you all.

:laughing::rofl: come on… am I that bad???

Well no, you're not bad at all, but the translator you use I think leaves a little to be desired. All online translators are imprecise at times, but I think Greek is is especially problematic. I say this from observing many different interactions with native Greek speakers on different forums. It definitely makes things interesting. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I agree with this word!!
To be honest, I rarely use a translator. Maybe this is the problem??

Thank you! I will post back here I have later tonight as I am out all day and and not with the machine.

Will do. Unfortunately my HP 745 is in an equipment storage room at work as we still have not issued these to the workforce. I'm on vacation until Jan 5th and even then I may not be allowed back into the building due to covid protocols (we telework to the extent we are able). As soon as I can get my hands on the G6 I will revisit this thread. Who knows--maybe a fresh load of Garuda will fix it!

Well that is unfortunate. Not so much because of the system specs, but more so that to make progress you'll really need to perform hands on troubleshooting.

Well then, I guess you'll just need to keep your fingers crossed that an update fixes your problem sooner, rather than later.

Good luck.

Mine is hand and I am again typing on it. I am able to get consistently into the OS now after the update. It still at times hangs and takes 3-5 reboots to get past the Loading kernel and initial ramdisk where it hangs, but after the multiple reboots it gets past it and goes and runs great.

Here is the output of my inxi -Fxxxza that was requested - I had no idea what that was and now I see how useful tool this can be.

For those that do not know and maybe reading this - this is a hardware reading tool that will post full details for specs as well as kernal, OS etc - it basically a terminal output for system info to help with troubleshooting your system.
open your arch terminal -
inxi -Fxxxza >Desktop/inxi.txt

This will pump that result out to a text file on your desktop (in case you need to upload that file somewhere etc), also if you are really worried about MAC addresses etc it will show unique ID last 8 from those.

Here is my output - I have this in a tex file if the mods prefer - I will edit the post and host the file if that is preferred.

Well, that's an improvement.

A couple of suggestions:

I see your last bios update was a couple of months ago. Double check to see if a more recent version has been released.

I would suggest testing the linux-mainline kernel as it may have more recent kernel updates. Do not uninstall your current kernel simply add a new one.

got it - thank you - I did not see the tag before - I will know that for going forward. Thank you for fixing it.

I did check the BIOS when running through this Distros last week which is when the actual flash was done - I will check again and see if they have one - I should likely check all the firmwares while I am at it and do them all.

I will also learn about the mainline kernel and see about switching to that - noted on the removal.

Thank you for the suggestions! Since I am now learning all about Arch I might stick to it for a bit - I like this distro out of the box so far just need to install the tools I need - thank you for putting it out for us to use.

So the problem might have been that you did not wait enough for the boot to complete?
It seems your system is fine.
Are there any issues after first setup?
Have you updated your packages and rebooted?

I did do an Sudo pacman -Syu as soon as I was able to get into the system.

I will need to read the post installation task as I am not familiar with them.

That command has a typo.

Sudo pacman -Syu
