Garuda install Black Screen right after Welcome to Grub message. 50+ tries

EDIT – Reply. I am repplying here because I cant reply, I think the topic might have been closed.

I did follow the instructions on the official download page though, line by line did I miss something maybe? There is nothing out of the ordinary in the instructions here, its just the same old regular procedure for any linux install I have done. Like I said, I couldn’t make it to the initial menu.

There has to be some compatibility issue with the boot procedure for sure, because according to research on other forums and reddit, I am not the only one with an unsolved topic.

I head of people with a black screen after the installation and stuff, but I couldn’t even see the very first menu. Welcome To Grub for 1 second, then total black void for life no usb activity.

Official Installation Procedure:
[yes]Enter bios settings…
[yes]Disable fast boot and secure boot and delete secure boot keys if any
[yes]tried UEFI and Legacy, CSM on and off
[yes]tried rufus, balena, and ventoy
[yes]Boot from the USB drive.
[yes]I dont use RAID mode on this machine, so yeah AHCI is what it was at.

[no]When using Ventoy make sure to use the “GRUB2”… This never existed. I got a black
screen at this point… Welcome to Grub for 1 second, then black screen. Nothing else. No menu whats so ever.

I still want to try it if you can help me, I ended up trying cachyOS which so far so good but I dont mind formatting it, I havent done much yet other than apache / mysql stuff.

Hello there guys.

I am not new to Linux at all.

I have done Arch(dev station daily driver), Manjaro (office daily driver), mint (okay), ubunto(dont like), bazzite (its fun, but dont like), pop OS (useless), backtrack new kali(okay), connectiva BR linux (old), Mandrake (long time ago)… I been using linux since the year 2002. As long as it is not Fedora based, I dont really care what it is. (I have a specific hate for rpm packages).

Every once in a while I will try a different flavor on my spare machine just for fun to see what is out there.

This is the very first distro I was unable to install… EVER … Garuda Dr460nized.
I had some spare time today so I said why not, it looks cool.

I tried it on 2 pcs, including my main PC which is a 7950X3d nvidia 4090, 64GB.

I tried downloading the iso 4 times.
Did I check the 256 hash? no. Will I? no. I just downloaded the iso 4 times, screw it.
All the individual 4 iso files I tried:

Ventoy
Balena Ether
Rufus

so thats 4^3 already.

All the tries combined probably add up to 50 + combinations between Bios settings and different flash drives.(I even erazed my other flash drive that holds my manjaro installation)

I know the drill, Bios legacy mode (I also tried UEFI cuz why not)
Secure boot OFF, Fast boot OFF. I develop hypervisors for game cheating, I know my bioses.

Long story short, every single time I tried to install garuda, I would be greeted by a:

Welcome To Grub…
Suddently the screen would go black.
After this screen I can’t see anything.
I read some posts but nothing that would help.

I should have checked the sha hash of the file but, I won’t. I will try garuda in a couple of years, I am installing Endevor OS on that pc right now to try it out.

Maybe your server has an issue if the file is arriving corrupted (4 times?), but I didnt’t check the sha256 so I dont know. And I very much doubt it was corrupted, I have never had transmission issues like that. Very rare.

I just wanted to throw this out there, because there is an issue/compatibility for sure somewhere, because in all these 20 + years, this is the very first linux distro I am not able to taste.

I wish the community the best and I will give it another shot in a couple of years.

Same to you @xetal, best of luck out there. :waving_hand:

If you do give it another shot in the future, consider following the instructions on the download page–probably that would have worked out a lot better for you.
