Garuda-Boot-Repair seems not to work

I have a ooooold Laptop but quite Nice and working. Since there is no Games working well with the never isos and mesa. So i did install Linux Mint 20 debian for testing but their even Steam didnt want Launch and hang in a Loop with the orginal Nvidia 340.108 Driver.
So i plugged in the USB with Ventoy and garuda-xfce-linux-lts-251103.iso. Started the Garuda-Repair-Tool but nothing worked dosnt matter if i choose MBR,EFI or Local. Also a error comes up can not set chroot Enviroment.

The only way was to chroot in it and installed Grub completely new. Update-Grub didnt work either showed a message couldnt lock something and lookup yourself . ( Could not remember all yet but wired)

Im compiling a Kernel now for testings if im done i can take a look again and may sen some screenshots.

These tools are targeting Garuda exclusively, rather than being used for general purpose repair, though it is sometimes possible. It would only be expected to work if you have reinstalled Garuda after your testing with Mint. If you have since reinstalled Garuda, and the tool still fails, please explain further and give the complete text logs.

It may work just on EFI Partitions not on older MBR.( chroot in it grub-install /dev/sda + update grub work)
I did install Garuda Linux with Erase and did not set up manually .
This Laptop has not a UEFI bios.

Reinstall Grub Bootloader on ESP, MBR or PBR give the Error .

Dosnt Matter if i choose MBR or Root and right devices.

The Terminal output:

sudo garuda-boot-repair
qt.qpa.theme.dbus: Session DBus not running.
qt.qpa.theme.dbus: Application will not react to setting changes.
 Check your DBus installation.
qt.qpa.theme.gnome: dbus connection failed. Last error: QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported", "Using X11 for dbus-daemon autolaunch was disabled at compile time, set your DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS instead")
"mount: /tmp/tmp.8oyRU3pMjy/sys/firmware/efi/efivars: fsopen() failed: Operation not supported.\n dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call."

does garuda-chroot fail too? If so, follow this: How to chroot Garuda Linux

i got it solved myself Thanks  just thought there is something wrong with it and want point it because of dbus error “disabled at compile time” If someone have trouble on older Systems . I know there is posts about in the Forum.

That was not the problem, but rather inability to access UEFI variables, which in your case is to be expected:

Yes thats why i wrote " It may just work on EFI Partitions " If there is all ok you think then is no Problem on my side anymore because i did fix it like written before. I just got a warning at install UEFI not detected but the install worked fine. Just a other Question is there a Garuda Linux . Iso from the begin of 2000 aviable or someone has it as Backup from the Garuda-Team? i just have the 2023 found on my Backup Drive.

Old ISOs are intentionally not retained, and I strongly encourage against used outdated install media. While it can be possible to install from old media, it is swimming against the current rather unjustifiably. If there is some problem preventing usage of new ISOs, then it should be reported to a new thread so it can get resolved for everyone! Our goal is not to provide workarounds or rely on antiquated media.

Yes i know thanks i will do it of course  I just like Test it on the Laptop without all those new mesa , wireplumber, wayland. To do this all manually is very slow on it so it will help me easier but if no iso there no problem . I will mess arround anyway on it since its not my main PC. I even would not do any updates it will break stuff or cant work because removed packages on Arch Servers. Thanks anyway Technetium for looking into that

LOL Dolby Sourround isnt working cuz has 4 Speakers and Infrared Port too but worth not a new Topic  (will get closed with no solution i think)

For People on older Nvidia 340.108 driver normal Pavucontrol will not work anymore just install pavucontrol-qt over paru or packseek it will work again

The topic is solved, and you are straying from the subject.

Perhaps you could write a how-to guide about the pitfalls of such old hardware and how you solved them.
