Forgive my ignorance, is there no gaming section in this forum? I used the search function and came up with nothing.
You can see all forum categories under the Categories: https://forum.garudalinux.org/categories
Remember that this forum is for help with and discussion about Garuda Linux, not random bits of third-party software.
Lets make a poll
- Gaming section
- No gaming secton

I'd like to make another poll but I'll probably get banned ...
I doupt you will but I already mde one beat you to it.
no i meant a poll about a different topic....
Before you do that, let’s perhaps find out what this “gaming” section is supposed to be for? And then let the forum staff take care of the forum organisation?
I think for genaral issues about games or feedback abut how games run
If people have issues with games then they should ask the game developers for support - same as for any third-party software.
I think a feedback about games is a good idea.
What would that entail?
I hope it’s more than a bunch of threads asking “does SOFTWARE_X run???”
Nope
thanks for the ....help .... the Garuda linux forum is set to be my homepage.
I'm only asking because there is a Gaming Edition listed on the downloads section on the website, I thought maybe a Gaming forum to discuss gaming on Garuda would already be created and I was just being a moron for not being able to find it.
I am not sure though
The gaming editon is just one edition of garuda (Mate multimedia sway cinnamon etc)
It does not make sense.
Right. The editions are fundamentally the same - they have the same underlying operating system and configuration, they differ in the default software installed. That’s all.
I thought maybe the gaming forum would go something like:
me: I got Doom Eternal to run finally since it didnt work out the box.
Forum newbie: how did you get it to work? I'm still struggling with mine.
me: I did X Y and Z after doing A B C.
forum newbie: I'll try that thanks.
Although its nice to have feedback concerning games its not really worth creating an entire section for it. We cant provide support for all games, that is rather something for Github issues or similar places as @jonathon pointed out already.
What is fine however (imo) is creating threads on the forums community section to point out how a particular game can work on Garuda or what workarounds are required. Making it an entire section would mean we officially support it.
In reality it would be like
Newb: How do you get ALgodoo to run plz halp now plz plz
Then why create a "Gaming Edition" ?
You could make the forum rules as follows:
Please note: We did not design and code the games you're trying to play so we cannot support it.
This forum is for members helping other members getting their games to work.
example:
Unreal Tournament 3 Black edition : working with Proton 6.3-3 - Set your wine prefix to 32bit with DX9.
Doom Eternal: Runs with Proton 6.3-3 - set your wine prefix to 64bit (not auto) - make sure your vulkan is working correctly.
Factorio: Runs with Proton 6.3-3 - nothing special here, its OpenGL
Nier Automata: runs with Proton 4.11-13 with DX libs installed on 64bit wine
MKX: Runs fine with Q4Wine 64bit DX libs
Or something along those lines
yeah I see it.... there will always be those type of people....
