Gaming News šŸ“°

Once again, I wish Garuda had a Gaming News thread, especially since it has one of the most popular Dragon Gaming Edition Installations available, but I digress…

Here is freebie for the GOG gaming fans (Can use Lutris to run it);

If you are a Amazon Prime member, you can log into your free Prime Gaming and get a one-time code to use on GOG’s website to get a free copy of Control: Ultimate Edition (PC). Highly rated game and it is marked as PLATINUM on Protondb.

Control: Ultimate Edition (PC) $0
For Amazon Prime members only. Ends 12/1. Prime Gaming (previously known as ā€œTwitch Primeā€; Twitch account no longer required) has Control: Ultimate Edition (Windows PC, GoG DRM) for $0 downloaded. Hi. You can create a new thread here in Garuda Community for "Gaming news" like any other thread! :wink:
Great idea, I'd say.

Thanks @filo , I think I posted a Gaming related thread in the Community and the moderators axed it and moved it into this thread. I will try again in my next gaming related post, and see what happens. :man_shrugging:

Auch, I didn't notice that. Normally I skip gaming stuff.
For me gaming is different than tech, so I'd vote for it :blush:

We already have one.

It is pretty stagnating though. Should we change its name?
It has 99 posts. Wanna write 100th post?
:smiley:

Yeah you should change its name

I am ok with the name. It smells like burnt out GPUs and Cheese Doodles in here, but I think it will do, thanks. :raised_hands:

For you Nintendo Switch Gamy Gamers...two emulators to get you up and running. You can find Yuzu in Garuda's Gamer Emulator tab. Ryujinx is in Chaotic-aur although as a 'git.' There is a 'bin' version in AUR. Maybe this should also be added to Garuda's Gamer emulators?

This article also has a link for how to setup up the emulators to play....so lets start the shit show;

I just love a hyped-up virtual conference. Nothing makes you say, ā€˜I can forgo rent another month and buy this, sure’ like marketing and corporatism. For you lucky Steam Deck purchasers and wannabies…mark your calendar and attend in your undies!!

Taking place on Friday, November 12, starting at 10AM PT / 5PM UTC the topic will be specifically for the Steam Deck this time, covering these subjects:

  • Steam Deck Hardware
  • Development without a dev-kit
  • Steam on Deck
  • Proton Support
  • Steam Input
  • Steam Deck Verified
  • APU deep dive with AMD

Here is a great guide for SteamTinkerLauncher, which oddly enough, sounds like a kids Playschool learning toy, but is in fact a powerful tinkering tool for Steam/Proton/DXVK and lots more. I believe it is installed by default in Garuda's Dragon KDE Gaming Edition, and for all others, add it via the Garuda Gamer app.

Also check out the wiki for more...

Coming down the pipes…

Reminder: This special Vulkan beta driver is where all the shiny new stuff goes in before making its way into the stable release for everyone. Really, it’s mostly aimed at developers and serious enthusiasts. Unless you need what’s in them, it’s generally best to use the stable drivers.

my thread does not cover gaming news, so let both of them live :sweat_smile:

Lots of Goodies for Intel and Radeon packed in the 5.16 kernel…

All of the DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) kernel graphics/display driver updates were submitted and already merged for the very exciting Linux 5.16 kernel cycle. There is a lot of good stuff this round especially when it comes to the open-source Intel and AMD Radeon drivers.

Considered feathers, ruffled, with the omission of Garuda and its Gaming edition. The author states in the comments it is because we are not a dedicated gaming distro, but then contradicts him/her/they selves with the inclusion of Sparky Linux which is very comparable to Garuda's desktop and gaming ed offerings.

Edit to add: The author has update the article to include Garuda!!

ProtonUP-QT is a handy app to 'Easily Install And Manage Custom Wine Builds (Proton-GE, Luxtorpeda, Wine-GE) For Steam And Lutris.' It is now in Chaotic-aur thanks to @dr460nf1r3 , and also in AUR.

Here is a handy guide on setting it up and how to use it;

Fans of Skyrim, you are old. Er…I mean Skyrim is old, 10 year anniversary to be exact and to commemorate all the times you whaled on Dragons or sat naked in a stream eating charred skeever meat, Skryim is releasing the Skyrim Anniversary Addition or Skyrim AE for short on; November 11, 2021, so mark your calendars.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition is a re-release of Skyrim celebrating its 10th birthday. It will be released for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on November 11, 2021 . The Anniversary Edition includes Skyrim Special Edition as well as 74 Creation Club mods - that is all 48 currently available ones plus 26 new, unreleased mods, adding up to a total of around 500 new gameplay elements.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition (shortened to ā€œSkyrim AEā€) is not a free upgrade, but every current and future owner of Skyrim SE (Special Edition) - on every platform - will have the option to purchase it. Regardless of whether you’ve bought Skyrim AE or not, everyone owning Skyrim SE will also receive a free update and access to three free pieces of Creation Club content: Fishing, Survival Mode and even new quests with the Saints and Seducers mini DLC.
