That was the addons manager that I brought to a new window so that I could type it out when I did, I made sure to close everything when relaunching the browser though.

I am really on a random hit and miss here.
It does not seem related to configs we set, as removing firedragon.cfg did not change anything. Yet, Floorp works.
You may not like this but my next try would be to downgrade your FD back to 11.16 and see if you don’t get the issue.
sudo downgrade firedragon
If you do still get the annoying half-speed, then we can be quite sure it is not related to 11.17 upgrade.
Whats the version before 11.17? I cleared pacman cache to see if reinstalling it very fresh would fix it before opening a bug report and it’s just trying to install the currently installed version

I am still unable to downgrade, I’m going to wait to ask my partner who also runs garuda if they have an older version of firedragon in pacman cache as soon as they wake up, I only cleared cache originally so it would redownload fresh to see if the download got corrupted.

[/quote] Loading a new profile fresh in this works perfectly, loading that same profile in 11.17 breaks again, and loading the 11.16 version soon after fixes it again.
Edit 4: Still can’t talk
Could it maybe be that the about:config flags got messed up upon updating to 11.17? I tested a bit further and noticed that some other sites started having issues after the update that weren’t there before, with some of them able to be duplicated in 11.16 when loading the about-release profile that the installed version uses.
I downgraded to 11.16 and it’s working again.

Ok, I think it’s time to make a status:
- Currently 3 people I am aware of show a playback speed issue on at least 1 specific site (Hearts of Space).
– They are @remivamp @flusswind and also @Whirlboop47 who could not post here yet. - 2 of them confirm downgrading to 11.16 fixes the issue, the other person is working on the downgrade to test.
- Floorp and other browsers do not have that issue.
- Removing
firedragon.cfgdoes not fix the issue.
My next question would be: Are you using PulseAudio or Pipewire?
What is the output of
pactl info | grep "Server Name"
ps -e | grep pipewire
I’ll add in that I have run into the same issue with the update trying to use Youtube. I am using Artix, but have installed Firedragon via chaotic-AUR. I’m one of the people using pipewire, with pipewire-pulse installed as well. And will also confirm that Floorp works fine, and I have been through the troubleshooting steps and the clean profile.

You could try to run the -bin version.
Just extract it somewhere, go in the folder and click onfiredragon-bin.
I will also note, 11.17.5-1 has the same problem still, tested via appimage.

That’s a different problem than voice playing at half-speed.
If videos don’t play at all even when you click on the PLAY button, it’s best you open up an independent topic for that.

though now my browser is also saying that I can’t log into google because “It’s unsecure”
I’m having the same issue here, although creating a new profile didn’t fix it for me.
Another problem I’ve found is I can’t directly install any firefox extensions/themes from the mozilla add-ons store. More weird, clicking download file just doesn’t work, and after I downloaded the file through a different browser (tried getting user-agent extension thinking that might help), and then went to add-on manager to install it, it just didn’t work after selecting the .xpi file.
Are you by chance using any proxy? or tweaked your networking a bit. If not, what happens if you clear all your cache and cookies and retry.
I tried logging in on a new profile and got the same error. No proxy stuff going on, just Starlink as my ISP.
Ok. So as the 4th edit earlier since I still couldn’t speak normally says, could it be that the update messed with the about:config settings? I did notice that it did reinstall darkreader afterall which I temporarily uninstalled before to see if light mode would be better (found out my eye problems are the kind that dark mode solves with reading and just forgot to re-install it)

The only thing we modify concerning audio, is enabling various audio backends in mozconfig. But those haven’t changed since 11.16. I’m also unable to reproduce the issue.
Could everyone please post the “Media”-section in about:support for both the woking and not-working version?
