Firedragon media playback messed up 11.17.4-2.1

Firedragon cannot play more than 20 seconds of youtube per new tab, and the NPR station “Hearts of Space” has half speed playback (evident when the voice starts up)

Browser version according to pacman since I can’t find it anywhere in about 1:11.17.4-2.1

Wasn’t an issue in whatever earlier version I had

Disabling ublock origin doesn’t change anything, though now my browser is also saying that I can’t log into google because “It’s unsecure”

While you wait for professional help!!, you could try creating a new profile and observe if the same things keep happening.

Yeah I too have some video playback issue, not the same as yours though.
My issues are reproducible using Floorp, so you might want to try to follow this tuto and come back with results.

I did. The issue persists in a new profile, and is also nonexistant on chromium and vanilla firefox

That fixed youtube, though hearts of space is still playing at half speed, they must be different issues.

Probably something else, yes.
We don’t set any config related to speed of playing.
Might want to install FLOORP browser and see if it happens there as well. If yes, then you could ask Floorp on github.

@remivamp try this one please and report back:

Is the fix to the media playback also related to Wayland Scaling?

Oh, I thought this was the same issue. No, we can’t be sure, my bad. I read too quickly, the day has been draining me:sweat_smile:

I tried I can’t replicate it on FD or Floorp. What all extensions are you running. Other the ublock.

Ruffle, Dark Reader (provided), Tree Style Tab (provided), Indie Wiki Buddy, PronounDB, SkyFollowerBridge, Flagfox, Shinigami eyes, Sponsorblock and De-Arrow

As for what FDG suggested, the issue does not exist in Floorp either.

Do you use firedragon.overrides.cfg file?

I don’t have one of those. There is the firedragon.cfg file in the install folder but no profiles have one of those files at least that I could find.

It’s not in the profile, it’s in its parent folder.

~/.firedragon/

Can you close FD, rename firedragon.cfg to anything else, relaunch FD and test the half-speed thing?
EDIT: I believe you tested this already, just want to make sure.

EDIT2: You can upgrade to 11.17.5 and give it a try.
Alternatively, you can try the AppImage.

I don’t have it in there, I have it in the /usr/lib/firedragon folder, and it’s currently named firedragon.cfg.bak, but I’ll try an update and app imag

Yes firedragon.cfg is always located in /usr/lib/firedragon.
firedragon.overrides.cfg is located in ~/.firedragon, when you use one.

Just tested the appimage, it still has slowdown with audio playback

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zezhGYEM_Do I just did a recording of the issue in question compared to it functioning properly to see if this may help
