As you already probably know, Firedragon is based off of Floorp browser.
In the past year, Floorp slowly moved their base from Firefox ESR to Firefox Latest (now v141).
They also included their own features, for which a more detailed list can be found here.
So what’s new for Firedragon v12, then?
All the new Floorp features listed above
Addition of our new MacOSX and Windows packages
All packages are now available in both x64 and ARM forms
Removal of Profile Sync Deamon (you can still install it back yourself, of course)
List of package types available:
AUR (Arch)
AppImage
FlatPak
MacOSX
Windows
A lot of work has been done behind the scenes to improve packaging, almost all of it by @stefanwimmer128.
The packages are currently in the process of being released and should show up soon (as of Aug 27th 2025).
I sincerely thank and applaud everyone involved in this release cycle. I could tell it took a lot of effort (and a lot of replying “when it’s ready” ) but also that it was worked on with pure passion and love of open source.
Great work! stefanwimmer128 has been hard at work clearing up all those issues. As I have been following it. Keep up the great work an take some time off XD.

SO i did upgrade to v12, and I like how its smooth and tight. However I have problem with video playback. Any video thru the browser shows just green canvas
yeah that one causes issues more then not. if your screen is black or white you can go in to your fire dragon profile folder and set it to false manually in the config
I was playing with some config properties back on 11.X release, HDR was one of them. Plus usually on FF if something is blank or has a full color palette is due to some protocol properties.
Nice update.
one thing that i do not like.
the new tab is very annoying for me. i normally press new tab and then type in the address bar some website. for example forum.garudalinux.org.
now with the new 12 version during me typing it finishes loading and then switches my focus to the search bar. so i have “for” in the address bar and then continue typing in the search field.
Something might be running slow on your machine or Firedragon, when I click on the New Tab button it takes a tenth of a second to completely load up the page, I don’t even have time to click in the URL bar in the first place, before even typing “for”.
It is always recommended to start with a fresh new Profile, have you done that?
Like, cool, it’s sleeker and that’s good, but I can no longer put workspaces on the sidebar as icons, and the feature to put the title bar at the bottom keeps bugging out and placing it at the top, but upside down (sure, it’s experimental, but I didn’t imagine it could be this bad). Setting it back to top, but not restarting the browser seems to fix this issue.
And lastly, is the Advanced tab in the new hub supposed to do anything? It displays just a blank screen when I click it, no setting to be seen…
well, i understand that starting in a new profile would make it faster.
but who is thinking about us tab hoarders. I am using firefox based browsers exactly because they can hold thousands. and I am actually currently doing some research that does not just let me start fresh.
And i still say, even if it is superfast, why grab my focus away from the address bar. i can search there too. Really! and also type an web adress directly.
so my question would still be. could I switch back or replace the new tab behaviour?
Sure, you can go in the Settings page and type in the search bar “new tab”.
Under New Windows and Tabs you can change the behavior when opening a new tab, like Blank page, custom URL or use any extension that takes place of the Firefox New Tab. There are multiple on https://addons.mozilla.org/
This setting has been there for a long time in Firefox.
